any help would be much appreciated

    Cheers

Sorry to butt in Celtic, the cdf files are Eurovox channel dump files, but on the starview, the channel dumps are bin files, like the firmware, just confuse things.
Make sure that you set the gt-rom loader for Channel Data File. Have you done an update on the box before, just so we can eliminate the cable, if not, you may well need to get yourself the null modem cable that Celtic mentioned.

Eamo, yeah i put a update in it a few days ago (it's first update) and i've followed all the instructions about how to download the file.
is a null modem cable the same as a rs232 cable? thats what i used for the first update?

A Null Modem Cable and the rs232 are different cables

    Did it flash successfully ?

you will need to flash it with 4.50 for Ireland and 4.51 for the UK

Both of these can be found in Eamo's Library at the bottom of my post

    Hi Celtic,
the first file i downloaded to it i used the rs232 cable which worked fine.

went through the same process to download the channel dump amd the download bar wont move?

i'm new to this so there is probably a simple answer but if i've downloaded a bin file through my rs232 cable why would i need a different cable to download another bin file?

anthor thing that might be relevent?? i had to burn the channel dump bin files on to a disk first so i could transport them to another computer. Could this cause a problem?

    thanks in advance

If you used this cable before and it worked well you can use the same one , In GT ROM Loader make sure you tick " CHannel File Data" when transfering the channel dump to the SV

Hi there, first post so please go easy on me!

Sorry to hijack someone elses thread but it seems they`re sorted and thought it would be ok to jump on the back of this one

I`m having a problem using gtrom since buying a usb-serial adapter cable off fleabay. The null modem cable works using my old laptops serial port and I updated no problems. Now my new laptop doesnt have a serial port so i bought one of these, there are many drivers that came on the disk but I can`t get the pc to talk to the box.

Here`s what i`ve tried so far.

    1. Changed port number in device manager/com ports

    2. Changed baud rate to match the gtrom 115200

    3. Tries various drivers for the new cable, the ones on the disk and downloaded ones from various sites? (are these brand related?)

    Any suggestions welcome

    Cheers
