I have read last few pages on this forum, call me thick or idiot, but i am confused with all the jargon about Flashing and Re-Flashing, Firmware,v3.oo, cloning, etc, etc .
I am in UK (TW area),I have a starview box v2,57e and for the past week i am having to manually input the codes (frustratingly like most people), will all the jargons help me with auto update on my box?
How do i now i have cloned box?
    Is it worth dowloading software?
    What is Re/flashing?
Can someone take time and explain the Jargons to me plz?

The firmware you are using v2.57 it does not update so this is why you have to manually input the code this has been fixed with the v3.00 but it has a few bugs in it so causes freezing and scrambled only for 10 sec or so but does update by itself also about flashing you have to flash the box in order to get the v3.00 onto it you do it with a null cable and the software now about the cloned nobody is certain what exactly they look like everyone has opions but nothing concrete so it is left to the owner to decide if they do or dont flash the box could kill after a couple of weeks or be lucky and never die hope this clears it up for you

    Hi Guys

have a starview box, have looked through the last 100 pages, channels downloaded fine, when I do the menu-info-2004 thing nothing happens, I've tried menu-1668 or menu- 1570 as well and still the same ,the firmware rev is 2.58e is there a problem with this?

That link shows what the clone looks like but the 2gen starview is exactly the same when the hand control with the one gap ran out they used the two gap one was given with the correct one so old mate you are still in limbo

freebee40: from what i have read over the weeks on here the version you are using is well known for having problems entering the secret menu that enables you to enable the key emu.are you able to flash your box with another file eg 2.57?

Sorry fergusrb and all the others that do help us that are not as clued up. I did not mean to be disrespectful. What I was trying to say was I thought it a bit harsh for a mod to get a god complex and ban one of the majority contributors if it had been you or any of the other guys that show great patience with the newbies I would be naming you or them, just in this case it is tezz.
A huge thanks to all the guys that contribute and help us keep going.
