I'm about to flash 3.00 ( currently using 2.57) I'm wondering why there is advice to flash back once 3.00 is uploaded. Is there a good reason for this?

 

Other than reports that it may have some bugs and realy fully tested and approved by anyone yet, it needs more testing and there may be a chance it stops your box working, no one has said it has done this yet but theres always a chance!

 

hi i have little knowledge of these starview boxes but i was thinking of picking one up my friend told me you need to have ntl or it wont work i currently have sky digital so wud it work if i just connected it up or do i need to have ntl?

 

Yes fony currently there are boxes dying from people flashing to 3.00eE and not flashing back! So if you are not sure whether your box is a clone or you just don't wanna take a risk its best to flash to 3.00 get the update codes by pressing menu, 1570, set default codes exit back to main screen and when the updating finishes flashing back to 2.7.

 

If you have previousley had N*L installed for either TV or Broadband, and you still have the wall point where it was connected to, you should be able to use a starview box,

But to make sure it still works before you buy, connect a coax cable to the wall point that was installed by N*L and plug the other end into back of your tv, if you pick up a couple of tv channels then yes it should be fine for you to get a Starview box!

Hi guys very 1st post, I have the box and have only needed to read back to get the keys i've needed, tezzer, 69, fergus, u guys are the starview repair men, the moderator i know your doing your job but tezzer is a legend in here & lets face it invaluable to all us newbies and i'm sure they will second my words, lets just call him a flawed genius & we all know how much we love them,you prob won't hear from me again i only signed to say this, keep the work up you 3 & no offence Mod,

yes, i own the lot, there all over south yorkshire though! i have another 2 which are classed as clones and 6 that i know to be originals.

Cheers for that. Does anyone know where i can get the 2.57 software to flash back once 3.00 is on there, as I no longer have it on my spanking new laptop! Or is there a way to get it from my box to my pc before I start.

 

new to all this but thanks for the codes worked a treat again. in n** land dublin. Have S***v*** API version 2.55e_E B.version 7.0 22nd July 2006. Can anyone tell me what should i do, should i update. anything i have read talks about 2.57 upwards thats why i ask.thanks

its a channel file editor means you change channel name put them favourites all from your pc rather than the hassle full way of using the box!

Give it a try updating to 2.57 stops the bad or scrambled 10 second message, 3.00eE stops the need for entering new codes but is not 100% certified yet and has killed some clone boxes!
