Good point the only way for this to stop is full digital.
Which would mean providing everyone in Ireland and england with a digital box.
    Just aint gonna happen!

That was was only released a few days ago. They normally don't release them until they can't update. However this version is the worst they have ever released. I think they will have to release another one because this is really pants. You'd think the cable company would have had their boffins at work trying to make life difficult and this might just be a sign of whats to come. The PVR SV is a waste of money if they can't sort this out. Why record stuff if all you are going to get is a scrambled picture.

theyre already digital. but to stop us they would have to upgrade their encryption system but then all the recievers would have to be replaced. Theres a new version of nagravision that hasnt yet been cracked so if they changed now, no-one could get free cable until some-one cracked the new system but theres some clever people out there.......

You are missing the point. The SV descrambles them on one level. You get to the same level to watch the sports channel. However if you then want to select a particular game. A signal has to be sent back to the cable company. You cannot do that with the SV. So why not make it that everyone has to get to the second level to watch any channel. At present that would make SV worthless

cloned box = its up to you, so far no one has complained of dead boxes but time will tell

OK maybe I am wrong. However the last time I asked the cable company if they had the same kind of facility as SKY for selecting a game of your choice they said they did. That means they can do what I've been saying without having to upgrade anything.

I just lifted this from the BBC and it's years old. As far as I know you cannot do this with a SV

Naz look at the back of your box if your SCART is on the left the box is real,
If its on the right the box is fake!

sky only has 1 way communication, the only way the box can communicate with sky is via telephone/modem but this is only used to buy stuff like ppv and games etc... actually i might be wrong about cable sending signals back but im 99% sure
