sorry i,v just reread your post,your pressing menu,then the code,try going to parental control press info then 2004 or 1570 or 1668,go to the emu key,then switch on,then exit.
but your running a dated image,you need the 257 software

I am in Waterford and have N*L digital also. Just ordered starview box from starview.co.uk and should have it by the end of the week.I can't open the ebay page from your link though. anyway, one of the guys was good enough to send me a tutorial on the set up and the required firmware update also.Can email to you if u want it.

starview remote control problem!

just got a new box and set it up no problem, updated it with the 257eE version

the problem i have is that the remote control works some times then stops working then works again!!
its brand new (and yes iv replaced the batteries) when it does work everything works fine then it just stops again,

im puzzled and would appreciate any advice.

 

how do u check what firmware you have for starview can any1 get virgin on demand working

it is poss you have a faulty remote although rare...
if there is a cleare path to the starview to the remote then i would replace the remote ....

 

thanks tezzer, i ordered a new remote yesterday, and it should be here by tomorrow. im hoping thats all it will be because if there is the same problem after that id be well and truelly stumped!!

i'll post back once iv tried the new remote.

i wonder if anyone can help my starview box stops working as soon as i attach my cable to the box. i get audio but no picture the display on the box reverts back to a single number then the box switches off tried factory reset and rescanning to no avail please help desperate member?

ok then,

ive got my usb to rs232 all plugged in and i'm following the instructions...

i've located bin file,

but upon clicking download i get an error saying

"cant open serial port, Last error: the system cannot find the file specified"

everything is plugged in nice and tight, i don't get it!!

any ideas????

 

most run on comm port one

try another comm port /
if that dosnt work , i have known people having to use a different pc.
yes i know thats a pain but it wont work on one of my pc,s it just cant find the comm port for some reason
and it works fine on the other pc

 

make sure the starview is switched on or at least on stand by

 

i only have my laptop!!

the drivers for the usb/rs232 are installed and yes - the god forsaken box is on!!!

this is driving me up the wall

you wont believe the amount of people that cant get it working using a laptop is unreal usb to starview is always a problem

pc serial to serial will work first time robbo i almost gaurantee it
