Starview Expert-**no email posting or BANNED**

new here,

in Ireland and i got a starview box of ebay.co.uk , everything seemed to be fine at first, and then, i tried installing the channels, only non subscription channels showed up, i tried a master reset and start all, over. done this and the box blacked out, now on the front the led display just has one middle line on digit one active, and blank,

Also , i tried the parental control, info, 2004 and emu and still no, scrambled channels, and the box blanked and knocked off, before install was complete

any help would be appreciated

what are you flashing it with 255 258 257 or 259

i can send the fules you need if ness as i am sure its 255 for ireland

 

I'm not too sure what i,m flashing with to be honest, but its the box, which is on, but nothing is up on screen, blank, and no action if remote is pressed also,

Would it need a new s/w tx or something perhaps.
And i only have a laptop with a usb to rs232 cable and i gather that not too helpful?

 

power can back 5 mins ago, i resetted to a factory reset, to try again.

installion, seemed fine, and when finished it said, saving info, in a small blue box on screen, then the box knocked itself off. no power , no led , even though everything is connected

 

a lot of people fail to update the box with a laptop ..
best to do it with a pc and a serial cabel
above i posted a full guide to do this with the latest updates 257e
when you try to update your box the file name is there "what is the name "

maybe try on a friends pc rather a laptop and usb to starview

 

I have this problem some times, but its because the infra red reciever for my Vista Media player conflicts with my starview box, do you have any kind of remote control transmiter in the room?

and even re-flashed it over at a friends house, worked fine over there and here on installing but just as channels are being saved it knocks off all power.i then went arranging channels and the box knocked itself off again just as i was about to sort channels.

Its beginning to sound more than likely like a dodgy box to be honest, i will try and send it back on ebay and look for a refund or replacement,

I have N*L M*m*DS in Ireland and have ordered a starview box after reading many posts. Still not really sure if it will work on M*M*DS. assuming it does and apart from using the instructions have you any helpful tips in starting off... Newbie here willing to learn!!

the only other items in the room are the dvd player and obviousley the tv (dvd in standby mode).

im going to try a new remote hopefully tomorrow or friday.
i was using the remote fine this morning flicking through all channels and then when i came home this evening it wasnt working again!
and 10 minutes later worked for about 3 channel changes then stopped again! very strange!
(tried 3 different sets of quality batteries)

someone told me that n*l are going fully digital soon and this will render the starview box useless as they can then change the signal any time they like. Is this true? and if so,, is there anything else we can get to combat this disaster?

I am in Ireland and got a Star View Box a few weeks ago. Working perfectly no problems. When the names of the movie channels were changed a few weeks ago I assumed the box would automatically pick up new names but this didnt happen. I switched off the box, and rescanned but channels still had old names. I manually renamed them (big pain in the ass)and now its fine. Should the box have not picked up new names automatically?

Do you need to turn EMU on every time u do a factory reset?

when using the downloader u have 3 options:

App File Only
Channel Data File
Bin file only

Which one of these should be ticket when u upload the 257e file??

 

App File Only is the one to use

 

sound, think if i turn on EMU it mite sort me prob.

I am in the nortwest, lost ss 1 2 3 and uploaded the 259e file.

nothin worked then! but i overlooked the fact that i needed to reinistallize the EMU.

Will SS 1 2 3 come back with these new names?

Should I re install 257e?

 

257e is the most stable one to use and by far the best
