for your info i have opened two boxes one with scarts on the left, the larger box, and one with scarts on right a smaller box both have the same components inside. so i am convinced that you cannot tell whether a box is a clone without looking inside, leaving aside the arguments about the remote.There are pictures posted on this site which intimate that a smaller box with scarts on the right are clones,this is misleading.there are pictures posted on this site of the inside of a genuine box and a clone box which show quite clearly the differences

 

yes but the first generation looked exactly the same that is what they where copied off and for the remotes when the ran out of remotes they where giving out he other ones with the 2 gaps in it so your still in limbo any other information would be use full should have some

 

Hya just letting you know i have flashed to the new 3.00, i will let you know how we go cos had major freezing problem with the old 3.0.I am in ex cw area.

No bother if it is still freezing try the 257 that will work only problem if codes change you will have to input manually

 

the photo on page 129 from beer65 is the inside of a genuine box.these components are identical to the two boxes large and small I have opened.I think also that we are pretty clear on what a genuine remote should look like.a bar under the infra red, recycle bin crossed out on the back and ec stamp on the battery cover.

I am trying to connect starview to pc via a usb serial converter and a null modem cable the pc is coming up with USB-UART and not finding a driver! anyone got any suggestions as to where I can get the driver?

sorry to say it lads but we are no further tonight!! this latest 3.00 file is an exact match to the original. someone playing games yet again!!

 

you do not need a driver for the correct null modem cable make sure it is a null should say on the cable have a look

 

sorry anto read it wrong no info on this but again down to choice at the end of the day could be a red herrin or could work

 

has anybody tried 3.01ee binfile and if they did hows it going

are you sure this one is from reliable source unless there was nothing wrong with the other that is why they released it wonders will never exists to amaze me

Thanks was ordered as Null modem cable but doesn't say on it is there anyway to test it to make sure? sorry to be a pain

 

there has been 2 revisions to the 3.00 file. the clone safe, then the safe for all released today! all 3 of them are 1:1 matches.
Im trying to download this new 3.01 file but surprise surprise, the megaupload site have banned it already!

 

sorry no if it does not say null on it prob not one did you buy or did you get with box could be rf232 looks exactly similar to it but wont do the job
