Starview Expert-**no email posting or BANNED**

I dont have a 9 pin connector anywhere on my pc so i have to use USB Is there absolutely no way round this

 

yep,
as we said you require a new cable,it,s the only way

 

yes a usb to starview is possable but you will need a driver for this
one is available in the earlier pages

its a pain in the arse this way though
best to use a friends pc with the correct male 9 pins on the back and a null serial modem lead

 

Got new computer and wire but flash update fail is the message i'm getting. if i put it to com 3 it stays on 0% for what seems like eternity how long does the update take

 

flash should take 2 or 3 minutes at most

maybe the flash rom is knackered in ya box

you must flash on com point1 if your using a usb adapter,
it can take upto 20 mins this way,..it does when i do it.

 

Has anyone managed to view teletext on any channels at all?

got my new starview box today the person i bought it off flashed it for me. once i got back home i rigged it up to the tv followed all the instuctions and when it was scanning for channels they all came up failed. i phoned the person back and he said it needs to be re flashed i have done this again twice and it says download complete 100%. i rigged it back up to the tv again scanned for channels again it said channel failed. does this mean that it hasnt flashed properly as i cannot access parental control or edit channels. any help would be great as i cannot get in touch with the person i bought it off.

when you flashed your starview and it said 100% did you wait another 30 seconds for it to say flash compleate before unpluging it from the pc.
you must wait for this //
also did you flash it with 257e bin file

yes i waited until it said download complete and the software is 257e bin file

 

check the signal coming in as its not recieving one by the sound of it

also make sure you select the correct provider at the top where you scan for chanels

 

i'm with virgin media at the moment would that be ntl i think the signal is ok as i have tried it in two houses. i am using the cable input socket thats right is'nt it

i cant work out the problem .. unless the tuner is broken i am stumped...
although i have had the same problem with a nokia dbox2 and it was the tuner and i got a replacement//

 

i forgot to say that i bought two of these boxes and both dont work. i could understand 1 not working but both of them not working sounds a bit strange

 

ha , its more likly to be a signal problem or a conection problem

try the box elsware and see if they work there

tried both boxes at my father in law before i flashed them but they were already flashed when i bought them (i saw him do it) and they didnt work there. i just cant understand how i cant access parental control as i scroll down to it it misses that one out and it also misses edit channels as well

 

that means its not flashed correct

these options appear when flashed

do a factory reset and flash again
thats all i can sugest and flash it with this file to make sure yours is not corupt

installation, user set up, factory setting, system information have got four diamonds on a yellow background next to them, parental control channel edit have just got a yellow box

 

how would i flash it once it has downloaded

 

i have flashed it again using the software fom that link and parental control and edit channels are still unaccessible
