I was just wondering would anyone be able to post the bin image file for NTL channels on this site?

no need to open the bin file emma, just open your gtrom downloader, click on the box that says bin file and select the bin file for the particular firmware you wish to flash your box with, thats it,connect your box to your pc and click the download button, once 100% is reached dont be temted to unplug your box before the download complete box appears( usually 20 secs or so after reaching 100% ) , and thats it,the other settings on the gtrom downloader should be ok and not need touching.
    Good Luck !!!!

Promise this is the last time I annoy you! Everytime I hit the link to download a box appears saying 'do you want to save this file or find a program to open it', if I save and then press the BIN file button on the gtrom and put in the firmware file I have saved and then try to download, a box comes up saying, the system cannot find the file specified can't open serial port????

Hi same needed here for Ireland ntl in Dublin.

Scanned the channels and only 14 shitty channels are coming up. All the rest (about 140) are scrambled.

Havent got a rs-232 cable yet.

Is it right that all i have to do is download the files upload it to the starview receiver and im ready to go.

Cant seem to find the hidden menu either using both codes listed above.

    Any ideas anybody?

sounds like youre having problems emma, how have you connected your starview box to the pc so that you can download your firmware, have you used the grey rs-232 cable that is usually supplied with your starview box when new,its usually a grey cable and has 9 holes in each end of the connectors ? , it sounds like your starview box isnt being recognised by your computer.

No its being recognised by my computer, the problem is the bin file needs a program to support it so it can be used by the loader, but i don't which file to open it with hence it won't allow the gtrom to download

tezzer is right emma,no other prog should be needed,if you open the gtrom loader, and select the bin file, then make sure your starview box is connected before you hit the download button, then it should begin downloading for you

Was on my laptop, and now i've moved onto my main computer. Have everything plugged in securely and have downloaded the gtrom loader and bin files separetly onto this comp.

emma just to let you know i have loaded the bin file firmware into the gtrom downloader on my comuter and hit the download button without connecting my starview box and the error message i get is the same as yours - cant open serial port and last error cannot find the file specified ,so from that it sounds like your starview box isnt being recognised by the gtrom downloader, i would imagine its either a faulty cable or it may be worth trying the other serial ports on the gtrom downloader rather than the com 1.

Just thought I would let everyone know that I have updated my apparently fake box to version 260 with no problems so everyone can feel free to update their boxes too.

To be honest though I cannot see any difference from the 259 version it was supplied with so decide for yourself if you want to take the chance.
