no it only works off cable if you have cable internet you could run a splitter and it would work but you will probably have sky broadbrand

 

i have ntl internet and s*y plus,

 

it should work if you get the proper cable and a splitter thats the way i have done mine and its a nice easy little box to use with all channels.

Guys gonna order me starview box over the weekend. Is there anywhere in perticular that i should order mine from? i live in hertfordshire.
Ive seen some on ebay from scotland 78 quid is that okay?

gaz, in the picture there is a computer lead is that for updating software?
do i connect to me tv using scart?

 

yes that lead is for updating your box whenever it needs doing i have had mine 4 months and never needed doing. you just connect your cable wire into back of box then scart lead in back of box and telly then just scan the box and it will find all your channels easiest box on the market.

 

The one in the item number that Gary said appears to be the one that people think is a fake.

Not a problem really as it is what I have and still works with 260 software but some people would rather have the larger (apparently official) one.

 

Sorry , Steve. What do you mean by fake? Not loaded with the correct software?

Is yours okay? Did you have any agg setting it up?

steve are the ones that i typed the number in fake as i was going to order 2 for friends i just looked at the feed back and they seemed ok i will now have to reconsider thanks for the info.

 

has anyone encountered this problem before? , my starview box picture froze,so i unplugged it and plugged it back in,therefore hopefully resetting it,but unfortunately the box wont power up at all now,i have no green lights or display or anything,i have tried the fuse in the plug but its not that,so any help would be much appreciated.

i bought a starview box, but cant view channels, i am on API Version 2.58e Boot version 7.0

i dont have a disk for it but i do have a cable, can someone please walk me through what i have to do to unlock my channels please, its a birthday presany and i need some help asap please

My understanding of the apparently counterfeit boxes was that you wouldn't be able to update the software to the latest version. I have however updated my fake one to the latest 260 software with no issues.

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it, I still haven't decided if there are actually fake boxes or if it was all a con to get people to pay higher prices for certain boxes, I suppose only time will tell.

stop all the worrie about fake bokes
we will be able to update them as and when required.
dont listen to anyone who says otherwise
since when has anybody been able to stop us updating anybox rom11 cards dboxes blah blah blah
these so called fake boxes will be ok

Hi all
I am new to all this but have a Starview box thats works ok, but I have do have problem and that is I cant get any subtitles up on any of the channels!

I can get the small box up on the screen by pressing the Sub button on the remote that is supposed to allow you to turn on or off the subtitles and also the change of language but on my box I cant change the off to on.

Can anyone help or know which keys on the remote I have to press?

I have the 257 version loaded and have no problem viewing channels etc.. so I dont think its a software problem unless its just I dont know if I am pressing the right button keys.

Any help would be good.

A very important notice to all you with cloned boxes so please read !!!!
Basically i had a clone box and two days ago flashed it with v260 firmware ,tonight my box froze and powered down and is now totally trashed,other cloned box users are reporting exactly the same thing happening on other forums so to anyone with a clone box please remove v260 firmware and reflash with another version- prob 257 and lets hope your boxes are saved.
i missed my box so bad i have been out and bought a genuine starview box from a local dealer tonight and basically the two are totally different in build quality,even size and different remote so once bitten twice shy for me and costly too !!!
