how can i tell if i have a cloned box? what are the differences? isnt there any way of bringing these boxes back to life?

I have just bought 3 boxes for myself and friends and i have just flashed one with version 260. How can you tell the difference between a clone and origional?

Hi Folks,

Live in pa pc, no channels as of (11/05 20:30). Might be box, might be carrier, indicating no signal. Have tried analogue box, still no signal. Will try again in a couple of hours. May help someone else?

I have just got a starview box...fantastic btw! and so is this forum.

Can someone answer a few question for me-

firstly i had my box on standby and after a couple of hours the box was really hot...is this normal?

When i got my box i plug it in, but i never set my supplier to Vmed*a...will this make any difference, cos it looks like i have all the channels?

The has been a lot of talk whether you should split the signal or just connect directly...what do most ppl do?

sorry guys one more thing... I have not updated software on my box should i connect it to the pc and D/L the newest files, or should i do this only when things start to go sour?

Does anyone have a device code/instructions/similar devive for starview box? Trying to set up on iPaq with nevo RC software.

YES I NEVER REALISED THERE WAS A SWITCH ON THE BACK HAVE YOU SWITCHED THE POWER OF BY MISTAKE.

 

I'm using 260 in sunderland with no problems.
Oh yeah and if anyone needs the chanel list for up here i'm more than happy to supply it as i've just spent 3 hours putting them in order.

 

my box has died no power at all has anyone else had this problem?

 

Hi babybaby,a lot of peoples boxes have been dying in the last few days- mine included.my story is typical of many others ,basically i found out my box was a copy starview box ,and these copy starview boxes are struggling running on the 260 firmware,a lot of them are doing just what yours has and dying with no power coming back through at all.yours could be a different problem,but were you running on the 260 firmwre and also as far as you are aware is your box a genuine starview one?

 

No. I thought i bought from a genuine dealer but it seems i have a copied box. I wonder what the chances of a replacement will be if all the boxes are dying at the same time?

can you describe your box? Looking at the back are the scarts on left or right? on the back of the remote is there 1 groove or 2? whats the first few digits of serial number?

im having the same problem but im 100% sure my box ISNT fake! I'll put money on this problem only affecting genuine boxes and not fakes

 

I have to be honest,i have checked the seller i bought mine from and all they are churning out is these damn copy boxes so i dont even want a replacement off them , i dont see the point if 3 weeks down the line the same thing happens again,i will try getting my money back and see how far i get.the good news is that i bought a real starview box yesterday and its brilliant!!,lets just hope i can get my money back off the other person.
