From time to time the providers make some changes and the box's stop working. A new bin file (firmware) somes out and you download it to the box and it all works again.

It's my guess that firmware automatically update and change the keys so the screens don't stay scrambled. Maybe these keys are just a stop gap measure until the new firmware comes out. Possibly without it we would be having to input new keys all the time.

This is purely a guess and I'd really like it if someone who knows could explain it.

    Hi guys,

I have the same problems as the rest of you all, but my box is an Envision, which is slightly different. Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix my problem would be most appreciated, cheers.

There are prett good guides on this thread as to what you need to do. If you can't be bothered to look back don't worry as when you have to do it there will be plenty of people explaining it again on this thread.

From what I've read on here the D box mostly updates itself and hardly ever needs touching. It might just be a windows linux type thing in that SV being more popular the providers spend more time attacking it.

Can anyone confirm that the only way to update codes is to do it manually or wait for a software update.

The reason why I raise this point is because I also own a Eurovox Max and note that the codes are sometimes changed regularly. This means that all we Star View owners are going to find this a real pain.

The great thing about the Eurovox is that it automatically updates when the codes are changed and never takes longer than 30 to 45 seconds.

It goes without saying that as more of these boxes become common place, the more often cable providers are going to change the codes.

Surely, the Star View has the capability to match the Eurovox Max and have some auto code update software installed. If not, its a major flaw in the design of the unit.

I would be interested to hear what everyone else thinks.

    Press Menu
Press 1570 on remote and you should be taken to a secret menu
Hit the nagravision key and change the keys 0, and key 1,
To change between the keys highlight keys and press left or right
When the keys changed hit ok to store

    Here’s the NTL Ireland keys:
    KEY 0 = 3b d5 b1 4a 53 e0 71 6c
    KEY 1 = cb c9 bb a1 1f 39 ff 86

the new firmware will be needed as these codes will go of again shortly , its a temp fix till the new bin. file is reliesed as this file /firmware updates the codes automaticly.

i have a dbox1 and have to manualy input the code on a weekly basis so dont expect it to last too long

hello everyone... pretty new to this so please forgive my ignorance but can anyone tell me if there is any updated software for the strview on this site and where do I find it. I am currently running my box on the 257 version of the software but after the problems of the last couple of days fear it might not hold out much longer... with many thanks for your help in advance...
