Different problem now, a friend has just called his starview box arrived today, he can get all channels, but PAL does not work (it goes black and white) NTSC is odd picture size, and is 'jumpy' apparently. any ideas??

If your using a starview on N*L in Ireland, the best software version to use is 255. I've used it on a bunch of these, no freezing, etc, everything perfect except the EPG, which is an hour behind. Still manually entering keys.
If you think it's a pain manually entering keys.....How much of a pain is it to have a blown box ???

out of curiosity why are you entering codes manually? Is it coz U are missing a few channels?

No, I've got all channels, all working fine......Only had to enter new keys the other day, I'm sure N*L will change them again soon, and I'll have to enter new ones then. Thing is, you never know when they'll change, so, one minute you're glued to a film.........next minute.......stuck in an auto update loop.........The auto update aint working, so .................Do you see what I mean ???

Nutzzz, try this, if when you did auto scan it found the channels, but they wont unscramble, go into channel editor and delete them.
Then do a manual scan on 6885, and 6887, see if they come back to you then. No guarantees, but it might work.

The problem is the keys will roll over quite often and if you don't have the software update in you will have to keep entering new key configs. Thats OK if someone is going to keep post the keys as soon as it happens and it's only your box you have to worry about. However if you have to wait for someone to post the keys as is very likely then it will be a bit of a pain. Even if you know the keys having to go round and put the new keys on other SV's on a regular basis will be a pain for all concerned.

From what I have been told the new firmware has only been tested on the genuine SV. So it's a case of suck it and see as far as the clone SV is concerned. However previous updates work on the clone so there is a good chance the new updates will. If you can't get your box to work any other way then maybe you will think it's worth trying the new update
