yeah - that sounds very obvious now ;-) doh !

Ok - I pick up the 2 cables and connect to box with laptop powered off - then power on ...

I suppose I'll come back to you when I get to that stage...(I'm curious now - so is there much work to do from this point on ??)

when you buy the usb adapter you will get a cd disc which contains the driver on it put this in the laptop first and follow the on screen instruction on it then when it has finished you put your usb cable in do not turn laptop off when you do this ok

Download the Starview Giude in the link marked Eamo FTA Library at the bottom of my post. This will give you a step by step guide to flashing your Starview.

Before you do flash it, click the link at the end of my post marked Starview Info Dobby2oon, click clones and check to see if you have a clone or a genuine box.

If you have a clone box download firmware 2.57eE Fixed from the Eko Link at the end of my post, (In the Starview Firmware Folder).

If it is a genuine box continue on to flashing your box with version 4, which you have.

You have the USB adapter plugging into your PC and the null modem cable plugged into this and then into the Starview?

No stanby is fine. When you go into gtromloader what does it say for you serial port and baud rate settings?

Thats correct also. Then you click bin file and select whichever firmware you are loading make sure App File Only is selected in gtromloader.

You then click download and it should start counting upwards on both your pc and starview display.

Is this happening and is this the way you are doing it or does it say flash fail straight away.

    Bin file - STARVIEW_H20070607_400eE_api.bin

( Ferg advised to download this bin file - so it should be correct)

File type is App File only....

When I click 'download' it looks like its starting - but the % progress bar is empty... and after 10 secs it shows as flash fail

Quick question have you got a desktop you can do this from, rather than a laptop?
