I guess the reason is that 2.57 works ok so they have just altered that.

all the firmware update files are the same size from , there first file too this new one ,

    when unpacked

    star view_h20060918_258ee - 786,688

    STAR_VIEW_H20060515_254eE - 786,688

    STAR VIEW_H20060816_257eE - 786,688

    STAR_VIEW_15092006_257eE - 786,688

    STARVIEW_H20070129_259eE - 786,688

    starview_h20070527_300eE - 786,688

    starview_h20070607_400eE - 786,688

    so what is your problem

you should be more worried about the safeclone firmware , as it the same size , as all the orginal firmware, so it's most like the same file , but renamed

it will only auto update when the code key change,

but all the clone people will have to enter the keys themself, as there have no software that will do it (also there will not get any software enless the cloners bring out there own firmware)

As TAFSIR said above, DO NOT USE v4 ON CLONE BOXES. I put it on mine last night, took just over 3 hours to kill it.
To be safe, stay with v2.57, it's very stable, and it only takes a few minutes to get the keys done manually.

If you don't want to do it manually, you can flash it to v3, then, when it updates the keys, flash it back to 2.57, but thats going to take 6 or 7 minutes anyway.

I did read somewhere else that the PSU has died on quite a few of these.
If I can't get the box replaced, I might try a new power supply.

I have got v4.00 on my original genuine Starview and my new "The Box", as they are identical anyway and they both work very well, no more freezing etc... Would not recommend it for clone boxs though!
