I've had v4.00 installed for a couple of months and it's been fine. I haven't checked that EMU, but I will when I get back home...

    Is v4.00 the latest...?

Please edit and remove your emial address as its against forum rules .

If you go to My Computer and look in Device manager and see which port you are using , try COM1 , COM2 AND COM3

OK Let's find out which port you PC is using.
Click Start/Control Panel. Here it will be easier to swich to classic view if you haven't already done so in the past. Then System/hardware/Device manager. Scroll down to Ports then expand the menu by clicking the + button next to it. Your communication ports will be shown there. Usually it's com port 1.

BTW what type of cable are you using?

The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your map software to recognize.

You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data.

To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:

    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

If you need drivers go here

Before you upgrade your firmware you need to check wheter you have a clone or genuine box. Click the link at the end of my post marked Starview Info Dooby2oon this will give you a visual guide.

After that I will give you all the info/firmware you need to upgrade your firmware.
