    Hi,
I have a genuine Starview box and it works fine but I keep having to update the codes on it! Do you think it would be worth my while flashing it? Which version of update would I need? Also, I'm not sure if my PC has a COM Port, How could I find out if my PC has one? Would I need a Male or Female Null Modem Cable?
    Cheers

Please all note this. Not all USB to serial adapers will work on 64 bit systems.

To help I will sort ppl at at cost price (ie cost of null modem cable + adapter + p&p) as I can do it cheaper than most. My supplier is just round the corner and I can beat their P&P charges!

Whoops, After checking my box thoroughly it looks like it's a clone, it has 18X7 vents and the 2 spaces in the back of the remote.
Do you think I should have a go at updating my box? It died last night and came back on this morning, and has died again tonight!

Yep, it's version 2.57eE mate, I was going to have a go updating it tonight to vers 259 as I read vers 4.00 could kill a clone? Is that correct? Do you think it's worth doing this? (I bought the cable today for it £9.99 out of Maplin's)
Also, I was gonna have a go at the channel editor as well, anyone got a link for it? Is it easy to use?

2.59 does not auto update as said 2.57eE fixed is what you need. You will find all you need in Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post. Including the SVCE and instructions.

I installed the 257_fixed file and the system info says I have version 257_e_E which is the one I had installed already which did not update automatically.

So will this 257_fixed file update itself automatically or not?

If you installed the FIXED file and you have a clone well then yes it will auto update when the codes change

If you have a genuine star view 1 then put ver 4.00 on it.
