    Hi Guys,

I just checked system information on my box and here's what I got:

    Starview

    API Ver: 2.57e_E
    Boot Ver: 7.0
    16 Aug 2006

Since I don't have v4.00_E my box is a clone right?

At the risk of boring all you very knowledgeable technical types, can anyone please help and advise me on reprogramming my S*tarview receiver. I have the one with the 25 vents and the API Ver 4.00e_E and Boot Ver 7.0 dated 7 Jun 2007. I am driven mad with reinserting the new N*L codes and they are changing so frequently. I am fairly technically competent and have downloaded some of the suggested software/firmware but want to check that I have the accurate downloads.

Can anyone tell me the exact names of the files I need to download? I have downloaded the following files S*tarview Guide PDF, the GTRom v4[1].00.rar, which I believe are essential. I also have the CryptStar-v1[1].4-GenuineOnly and also the (2) STAR_VIEW_H20060816_257eE_api_FIXED file. Are any of these right and if so which of these two is the correct file for reprogramming ? Or is there a newer version I have missed?

I have bought the null modem !
    Many, many thanks

Use the GTRom software to load the Cryptstar (Genuine) firmware to your box.

Hey guys I am trying to update my starview firmware but I seem to have a hybrid box (part 1st gen and part clone!)

The autoroll updates the codes/keys incorrectly which is why I need to do something. I am running API v3.00e_E and havent had any problems (for about a year) until the last few weeks.

Your help is very much appreciated, please reply soon! As I will be updating in a few days - save me from myself! lol

@ tempo2006 - so the correct file to use would be CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin only?

Scouser, pip - if you're out there your help would be much appreciated!

Sorry for butting in , I would put the core257 file on it as it wont do any harm and when the codes change hopefully it will AU for you :)

Yes use this file. It will work with both genuine and clone boxes

    Cheers Pip and Celtic,
I will let you know the results as soon as my NULL Cable arrives in the mail.

Feel free to advise Celtic, I will always be grateful :) I was told that my box is a 1st gen, but its so hard to tell, as my box looks deceptively clone like

I read Pip's earlier post about his box looking like a clone but actually IS a 1st gen, so I knew he would have the experienced eye to distinguish between the two ;)

    Cheers amigos!

Hi, i have a genuine starview gen1 box running currently on ver3.00 api firmware. I just wanted to know what new firmware to put on it, as i am none the wiser? thank you.

As long as you are sure it is a genuine Starview 1, then you should upgrade to CryptStar-v1.4-GenuineOnly. and you will find it in eamo's library at the bottom of post, Starview Folder 7th down into Firmware and it is 3rd file down.

I don't have an "experienced eye" to tell the difference merely owning the box for over 2 years.

Rule of thumb is If in doubt about whether your box is genuine or not then install the clone firmware as it will work on both.

If your box already has firmware from v3.00 or above on it then it has to be genuine otherwise it would have been bricked long ago.

I'm no expert, what I know has been learned from here thanks to people like Fergusb, Sco0ser, and Celtic71 to name just a few.

I owe thanks to many more but we are all here to help!

    Thank you very much guys!

I installed the lastest clone update file on my box and its working just fine, thank you sooo much!

I have a few sky movie channels that are a bit glitchy - but its a small sacrifice for lots of other channels that are open :)

You have all be kind and very helpful, and I am sincerely grateful.

;) @ Pip, Celtic, Malci, tempo

No problem , if you are having problems with SOME ch@nnels , delete them and do a manual scan on that freq and you should get them back and they will be located at the end of your ch@nnel list

Go to the Movie ch@nnel you are having problems with , note down the freq it is on , (Press the SIG button on the remote) In dublin its 323.000 , Then delete the channels

To Manual scan , Press Menu > Installation > Choose Provider > Manual Scan > type the freq into "Down Freq" and press Ok to scan :)
