    Cheers for the reply.

What you showed in the picture is about right, I even have it set to COM 2 as well.

Basically COM 2 is the only free COM usable, any other free COM is in double figures but the Cable software only goes up to 9 COM's.

Windows (XP) shows it like your screenshot and reports all to be working fine.

However the drivers disc that comes with the cable also has a programe to run tests on the COM, every variation I try always comes back as 'Test Failed'

I'm not the most technical minded but I think I grasp the basics.

I'm not at all farmiliar with the Starview or the software you use to communicate with the box.

I can however tell you this:

If the Windows "Device Manager" is reporting no problems with the adapter (and it appears that it's not) then your adapter is working fine.

The only other parameter to be concerned about is that the adapter & the boxes communication software are set to the same COM port number.

I've never bothered with the Test software provided with the adapter.

Why don't you just connect your box to the PC & see if it connects?

Your probably right bud, I'm just being over cautious and taking the Test software to literal.

Just to add to the rest reporting issues, It's a Starview 2 The Box I have. My area is Lanarkshire and Telepest.
I got the Box at the start of the year, its loaded with Version 4.

I'll see if I have time tomorrow to follow through the steps, otherwise I'll do it on Sunday when I should have free time.

Factory reset >>> Install Firmware V.4.03 >>> Turn on EMU etc.

I will be sure to report back on here asap.

Thanks for your help, I'll be sure to let others know about here.

Do that, I'm sure it will be fine.

As a Temp solution you can always take up the offer a few posts back.

    Good luck!
