    when i scan level is 00% and quality is 00% and it says "UNLOCK" in the bottom right corner. OK iv flashed it, been to the secret menu, my connection is live because its the same one as the one connected to my internet through a splitter, and iv looped the connection, What have i missed??? anybody??? please help is my box faulty?

    If you go to Menu/Installation you should have 4 options. Cable Network, Auto Scan, Manual Scan, and Advanced Scan. If you don't have 4 options, you have wrong software installed. If you do have the 4 options when you have Cable Network highlighted in Yellow use the right arrow button on your remote to scroll through to your Cable supplier, then Autoscan.

    Go to parental control in receiver menu
    press ( i or info button) + (2007)
    key and emu buttons should now be visible
    switch key emu to on position
    go to scrambled channel and wait for update .

    Just spotted your thread, in first post you say ""i have a N*L connection and a splitter with one end going to my TV and one going to my box ""
    The (one end going to my TV) bit sounds like Aerial, not Cable.
    What channels do you receive on your TV and do you subscribe to NTL or only have a rooftop Aerial?

    its ok now i got it working and i typed that wrong i was spose to say one end going to my b0x and one end going to my internet
