after about 6 months of use my box just blacked out. i acquired a jtag fitted it and started s*ymax followed instructions all was fine until i had to write tsop flash and this appeared Init JTAG DCU OK Trap_Wptr : 80000534 File : E:\Starview Jtag Stuff\Jtag DEAD starview\tsop flash.bin Write Flash ADR[7FE00000] LEN[00200000] : Please Wait... Error writing flash at address 7FE04000 ACK = 00000100 Write Flash END could any one help thanks John
# Hi You could try using Jkeys to flash it. I have flashed a few boxes (Not Starviews )with JKeys and there is an erase option before the write to flash. Not sure if an erase option in Skymax, but it needs erasing first. Link to flashing below http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363 jbvid
i did try jkeys and that threw up a load of error objections. it has got erase on skymax, i get past that part, it is the write part that thows up a error
Hi Ok then maybe we need to call in some of the 'longer been here' helpers like Celtic71 or Sc0user to point you to some leads. Any ideas lads? jbvid
Are you using a buffered or non buffered jtag a pic would help of your connections. Have you got your parallel port set to EEP and an IRQ of 378? If it has erased why not go directly to write and see what happens?
thank you very much for trying to help jbvideo it is the first time i have ever posted and i did not think i would get a reply it was a last throw of the dice before i binned the box seeing you replied i will stick in there thanks again John
sorry scouser i am really slow at typing and very new and did not really know what you meant by buffered and unbuffered i have tried writing and thats when the following gets said Init JTAG DCU OK Trap_Wptr : 80000534 File : E:\Starview Jtag Stuff\Jtag DEAD starview\tsop flash.bin Write Flash ADR[7FE00000] LEN[00200000] : Please Wait... Error writing flash at address 7FE04000 ACK = 00000100 Write Flash END
Ok then take a look at the info about Jtag in the link below and come back if you have any questions, You should see your interface there, and details how to flash. http://www.freewebs.com/jtagg/
jbvideo that is exactly how i did it but box did not turn on,i have just found out that i have a 1 gen box if that makes a difference
May be that box needs different attention, Have to put it back to Sc0user again, sorry, my speciality is TheBox PVR, Not done a lot of reading on earlier boxes. jbvid
scouser i do not have pins but read in another post 13 vents on box was 1 gen, must admit pictures i have seen mine is a clone
It erased ok, so now click start again but this time dont click erase just go straight to write and it should write ok, when complete disconnect the parallel cable from the jtag, but leave the jtag connected and reboot the box it should now show the display and all that then needs to be done is to flash it with 2.57eE fixed and that should be it.
ok scouser i will try that tomorrow, as it has done my head in at the moment thanks a lot for your help i know your a legend on here and my thanks again to jbvideo will get back soon and let you know what happens
