u will need a gtrom loader 2 upload the firmware on 2 ur box u will find 1 on this link

UPDATING

1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with
PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for
this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
3. Open up GTRom loader or whatever software you have
for loading image on the box.
4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the
Auto update BIN File file that you have

5. Now click download button and you will see the
file being downloaded.
6. Once complete a mssage will apppears saying
something like "download successful".
7.Ideally you should try and get a bin file channel
list for your area and load this as well it will save a lot of time.
8. Alterantively, plug box in and press Menu on
remote, installation, choose your cable provider,
then move down to automatic scan and press ok.
9. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
10. Now press menu, parental control, press ok.
Now press i then 2004. Move down to Key Emu and change option
to on. Press ok , then exit back to TV Screen.
11. Go to SLY SpOTS and wait on keys updating.
12 That should be you.


only place u can go rong is using the right computer port
to check which 1 u ar using

hit start
1..control panel
2..systems
3..hardware tab
4..device manager
5..the plus on the left side of the word PORTS

 

what firmware do i use and where do i go to get it cheers mac.

As mac07 has stated, it all depends on your box - is it a genuine Starview 1 (if so then you will need CryptStar-v1.4-GenuineOnly) that is the latest for the SV 1 - but as mac07 as pointed out - make sure that you know which box you have before you update. If it is the one I have mentioned above, then you will find all you want in Eamo's Library at the link below.

hi guys, can sumone plse tell me if a sratview box with 7x13 vents is a clone????
mine has 7x18vents and the software i used to update it wrks fine, im nt sure if i can use the same software to update the 7x13vents so that it will autoroll

Going off that description, it is a more than likely to be an original first generation Starview 1 7x13 vents, and you can update it, not to sure if you are okay with the 7x18 check out dooby's site, for more information on clone.

tanx for the speedie reply, the software i updated da 7x18 is for clones and wrks ok 4 my one, wen i checked out the site for da 7x13 both boxes look the same, just different amount of vents....aldoe i never took da casing off to check out whats inside.....2 scarey 4 me
