Just re-read my post and I cannot see where I suggested you don't help people out Sc0user...perhaps you can highlight the line I said that on.

Everyone is always helpful here, I am just saying that some people, (two people I know had to pay someone else to update their eurovoxes at a cost of @ €20 each)...don't have the wherewithall to do it themselves........I am sure there will be profiteers who will just love this now...but of course not the senior member; just others who will make money off this free info!!!

I hate to say this but you are on the Pc now why not get the box from your Mum and update it for her then there will be no more problems that is the simplest answer to that
Because [and don't take this the vulgar way] I have to open up her box and check if it is a clone. It has 7 X 18 vents but I read that 7 X 18 vents does not neccessarily mean it is a clone.

Am I right in saying that I can then use the CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin if a box is a clone or original Starview?

I'm in Dublin, Ireland on N*L.
In fergus's absence, yes you can - it would be wise to treat it as a clone anyway.

You can use v2.57 crypt on both genuine and clone so there is no problem

I wasn't looking for the codes, thanks, I was only refering to Fergus' post of no code posting. I wanted to know if PM was allowed.
Must be the socialist in me...everytime I see something stating you can't do this or that...I get a bit uptight. Knowledge is meant to be shared not hidden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evening all!!! I see we have had a very interesting afternoon, should be great fun, hopefully now people will relise that for yonks we have suggested Flashing there boxes, so now its no longer a suggestion but a must!!In fairness to this site it was one of the Trusted sites were we were allowed post the codes ,if , and when required, So if you want to continue using the boxes simply update the neccessary and do as the Admin asked. All the updates are in the usual places (seek and you will find)

PS Wecome back Fergus good to hear from you Bud!

well a just think its a legal point, even thothgh the admin say not, maybe its just a 'cover our ass thing,' n lets face it who wouldn't.
personally i think its been along time comming...........

edit[ have to add, its a waste of time banging on bout it, rule has been made..... ]

personally i think its a good thing...its gonna now force people to actually do something instead of taking the easy option.and if everyone flashes their boxes then it will be a waste of time changing codes at all so its a win win.

I am one of the lucky ones who has an updated box, but I feel for those who don't.
Not everybody is computer literate or able to do it.
Would appear that pressure was brought to bear in the matter, but I have no proof of that.
Just happened very suddenly.
Often wondered if we should all meet sometime, and have a good chat about things in general.
We have a lot in common, and have shared some "traumatic" times together.
Does anyone else see the value of a general meeting?
Just a suggestion, but would like to have your views.
We could, at least, put faces on each other.
And we could PM each other re. arrangements.
All views welcome.
Thanks.
