I agree with everything being said...however...what about those who just don't have the smarts to do it themselves?
I have to update boxes for 4 people, all of whom I work with, (last year as well for those who were actually on this site then) because they just can't comprehend the methods involved.
I accept it's possibly a watch your ass thing or even a threat of legal action, and the forum owners have the right to restrict posts as they see fit...but to me the reaction of some of the members here is a bit OTT and a bit "I'm glad this happened so now you can't be lazy anymore". Why did you all post the codes in the first place if you felt that way?

You can find out how to electrically re-wire your home on the web...so all the info is there...but maybe you don't understand it,or are apprehensive in attempting it... thats why you ask someone to help you out.

Sorry for the rant but once again' think of those who don't understand it like we do!

    Well said.
And you are right to point out that the forum owners have the right to make decisions over their forum.
    But there are two sides.
And you highlighted the other side very, very well.
I won't be rewiring the house either!

thats a fair point but how many of the people asking for codes do you really think dont have the smarts...they're smart enough to work a computer to get the codes...and they're smart enough to input the codes...in real terms flashing the box is so simple but its the thought of it that is intimidating not the reality.

LOL. Very good point, I must agree on that, yes they have the smarts to get on here and ask the question and then change the codes, accepted.
You are completely right...it is the thought of it that causes the issue and the fear (?) of breaking the box too.
I flashed 2 boxes in work today, while the people stood beside me. I showed them how easy it is and that it took 100 seconds to do it.
Honestly...they might as well have been looking into a hedge. Although, I must admit, maybe if I was not able or refused to do it for them they might have to do it themselves.

Anyway, regardless of my stance on this flashing is the way forward and everyone will have to do it now, like it or not.

    Rant over.

You will need the GTRom loader to upload the bin file and to put it on your box and the bin file is called Cryptstar-V1.4-Genuineonly

    Bin file is actually calledCryptStar-v1.4-Core400.bin.

The genuine file is the zipped file or RAR file and you will need to unzip it.

These files can be found under senior members' signatures in a file named eko.4shared and click on the starview folder.

need to download the latest fix here:

    http://www.4shared.com/account/file/4371...enuineOnly.html

you will also need this wiinrar:

    http://www.4shared.com/account/file/28733441/7c4273a7/wrar35.html

    and then follow this:

    UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL
    1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
    2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with
PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for
    this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
    3. Open up GTRom loader or whatever sofwtare you have
for loading image on the box.
    4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the
Auto update BIN File file that you have

    5. Now click download button and you sill se the
    file being downloaded.
    6. Once complete a mssage will apppears saying
    something like "download successful".
7.Ideally you should try and get a bin file channel
list for your area and load this as well it will save a lot of time.
    8. Alterantively, plug box in and press Menu on
remote, installation, choose your cable provider,
then move don to automatic scan and press ok.
    9. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
    10. Now press menu, parental control, press ok.
Now press i then 2004. Move down to Key Emu and change option
to on. Press ok , then exit back to TV Screen.
    11. Go to Sly Spotts and wait on keys updating.
    12 That should be you.

Best of luck...its really easy don't be uptight about it.

Sorry should have said..you will need a null modem cable (female to female, which is plugged into the back of your starview box and into com port 1 on your PC..not a lap top)

Look at my post 6 posts up. The digivox files are in the mentioned eko shared files and all you need to do it. Or click on the shared folders link under my sig.
