starview seems to have died ??

Set Up

IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM 4.51 OR EARLIER PLEASE FLASH 4.54 1ST THEN AFTERWARDS FLASH THE LOGO FILE.
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE 4.52 ON OR LATER THEN JUST FLASH THE 4.54 STRAIGHT ON WITHOUT THE LOGO FILE.
YOU MUST USE THE NEW LOADER SOFTWARE.

You program THE BOX The same as you program the Starview.
Just make sure you use THE BOX file and new loader and NOT the Starview file.

 

My Starview is still working OKish in the Leeds area but I am concerned that I have just lost Sky 1,2 and 3.
Does anyone know whether there is an explanation for this or how I might amend?

I have never updated firmware or anything as I have no instruction booklet explaining this.

Was just about to update to PVR but am a little reluctant now.

 

In the Uk you do not receive sky 1/2/3 as they are not supported

And if you are buying a PVR my advice keep away from the starview one lots of problems

 

Thanks for reply but I am now more than a little confused as Sky 1/2/3 worked perfectly well until last week. I have had the box for about 4 months with Sky 1, 2 and 3 on daily.

So, I can only assume I need a firmware update or that the rules have changed.

 

If you are in the Uk they do not get sky unless i am mistaken or maybe it is certain providers that do not have it

Go to menu and system information and tell me what API you have on your box

Also is it the starview 1 or 2 thanks

As I say, had Sky no problem 'til last week. Quite a few of the crap porno channels have disappeared as well, which is no great shakes at all so not bothered, just wanna know why is all.

 

Hi you could try this and see will it work you have the correct firmware on your box

1 make sure your incoming cable is connected to the cable input on the box and not going thru a splitter

2 Make sure you have a scart lead connected to the tv on the box and connected to AV1 or EXT1 only
also make sure you check this as been a proper working scart

3 Next go to menu factory settings and press ok put in 0000 code press ok to clear all data

4 Make sure you turn the box off at the mains for 1 min and turn back on again

5 Accept the language

6 Installation put your provider in the top box then do an auto scan wait for this to finish even if you see
failed a few times this is normal so just be patient till it has finished

7 When this is finished exit out to main tv screen

8 Then go to menu and press 1570 on the key pad into secret menu and turn the EMU on which has been switched off by default

9 Exit out 3 times to main screen and put the box on to the tv channel sky sports 1 and wait for this to update this
could go up as far as 250% so again be patient and wait also do not change the channel while
this is been done or you will have to start all over again

Have chosen Provider (NTL) and done autoscan.

can't exit to main TV screen as it won't go past languages.

 

press ok to accept language first then go to installation

 

IT has failed them all - 0 Progrms found which is weird.

did a autoscan yesterday and it found 229

 

did you follow the instructions fully you need to select your correct provider and di you turn the box off at the back and back on again after you did a factory reset

also make sure your cable is in the right place cable input only and you are not using a splitter

Weird. Failing on all channels now. So my desire for Sky Sports has seen me lose the lot

 

start again at the start do the factory a factory reset again

then turn box off and back on again at the back of the box

accept language

then installation put your correct provider in here

then do auto scan and wait for it to finish

Get in! Now got more channels than ever. 354. Sky Sports in there and now watching.

Why would Provider have changed from NTL to another? I have also swapped scart from AV2 to RGB1 and the picture quality is much improved.

What PVRs do you recommend then? Was considering The Box PVR. And should I buy with hard drive all ready in situ or just install and IDE one myself.

Glad you are sorted now i dont recommend any of them if ya want a pvr get a sky package that is my advice

Why is that then? Is it the recording facility/EPG or whatever?

 

well it is hard to say where to start they either work or they dont and if you get one that is a bit dodgy you could be in for a bumpy ride not worth the hassle i say
