It's The Box PVR, as depicted in this link from Malci's post at 12:43 on 22nd Dec. Someone in one of the many replies said it was a Starv*** http://www.skywonder.co.uk/product.php?p...18&cat=0&page=1 The receipt from when i bought it, in summer 2008, also says Starv*** I still have the box that The Box came in and everything suggests that it is a genuine The Box PVR. I was concerned about the possibility of it being a clone, but one of the replies i got suggested that this box does not, as yet at least, have a clone. I'll spend a bit more time on it tomorrow or Saturday. If i can get myself up one morning, earlier than the family, i'll be able to go through it slowly, make sure i'm missing nothing, doing nothing the wrong way etc. Cheers!
Although the link you left didn't work I went onto skywonders site and according to what he has advertised it's possible you have a starv**w super usb which takes different firmware then the PVR. Does it say super USB on the box?
It is a Starview pippin, it is called Starview The Box PVR :- http://www.skywonder.co.uk/search.php?mode=search&page=1 bomdas Try this new firmware that was only released to the library on the 24th Dec. okay, sure that will be a lot better for you it's in Eamo's FTA Library but here is the link for firmware and Loader, put this on your box >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Firmware http://www.4shared.com/file/77414148/dc7e6e12/StarViewPVR-21122008.html?dirPwdVerified=fe6700bc Loader http://www.4shared.com/file/32157004/d1ec34ca/PVR_Loader.html?dirPwdVerified=77fb70e9

I got channels! Thanks for the link to the firmware Malci, thanks to Eamo and thanks too to pippin for sticking with me! I popped the new .bin file straight in via the USB. I scanned on T*w***, the channels all came in on different numbers to what they had been doing with the other bin file and it sort of 'felt' right, if you know what i mean! Still, even then i nearly blew it coz i just tuned to SS1 and left it there, where i just got the message "Bad or Scrambled Channel." But then i realised what i'd done, or rather, what i hadn't done, and it took just a few seconds for it to update once i remembered to go back to the secret menu and switch Auto-update to ON! Anyone reading this who has a similar problem, do yourself a favour and write down or print off the sequence of instructions, and TICK IT OFF as you go along, so you don't make a similar mistake! Once again, BIG THANKS to everyone. All the best to you.
Pleased for you bomdas , yep you are correct, tend to overlook the simple things when you start to rush lol , glad your now sorted, and all the best to you, your welcome and take care.
Same sentiments as Malci. Unfortunately I wasn't all that useful as I'm not up to speed on The Box PVR yet but the starviews (At least 1-4) all seem to operate the same basic way.
It was good that you were there pippin. You see so many 'angry' posts from frustrated Dawners, who, understandably, feel lost and alone when they don't get their channels back within five minutes. Knowing that there's someone out there trying to help is a big help in itself. I knew i'd get there in the end, it was just a matter of patience and time. Maybe the next time i buy a PVR, i should buy one that's a bit more well known, one that'll get its fixes first! No doubt i'll be back in here when Virginia changes her knickers again. In the meantime, thanks again, and have a great New Year. B.
I did try answering you earlier but the site seemed to be down. I agree with you entirely but what p*sses me off is people saying "I think this or that" or "I assume" etc, etc. If they explained they problem correctly and EXACTLY without throwing the "Red Herrings" in, their problem would be sorted earlier. Rant over and I'm still watching and will help when I can. Christmas gone! Happy new year everyone!! (must chnge the batteries in this keyboard-ke3eps missing the letter E)
hi there, can any buddy tell me how can i download the bin file plz i had a same problem from last couple of weeks my box data is not updating ...... and after downloading the bin file how can i upload on my box
Hi folks need a some help with a STARVIEW 1 box.. by mistake i used the loader (ver 4.03) for "The Box" and bin file it went on 100% all was good but when i hook it back up to the tv the screen is frozen ,still shot on screen- the box, when i try to flash it again i get the fail error..so do ye think this can be fixed..?
yep.. press download again on the gtrom loader while the box is off at the back and then turn it on 3 seconds later. it may take a few attempts.
If it will not flash with the correct firmware then you have now created a bad flash situation, so the only way that you are going to recover is to try the Bad Flash Method of recovery, so use the latest fix, the Core400.bin (Genuine Box) or Core257.bin (Clone Box) with the GTRom loader both here >>>> Firmware BIN http://www.4shared.com/file/76381726/e8ad316e/CryptStar-v15.html?dirPwdVerified=3bea6c84 Loader GTRom 4.00 http://www.4shared.com/file/49191796/3361714/GTRom_v400.html?dirPwdVerified=c76188f6 And now click on the link Marked Starview Help 1st Line at the bottom of my post, and go down the page to the Instructions For Bad Flash Recovery Method, it may take a few goes, but you have to keep trying, you could succeed first time or 25th time, just keep trying.
