DesB - I extracted the files in your link and they seem to be the same as the ones I have already used ? Am I doing something wrong ?

It is just the same for the clone, (No different in Flashing a clone SV than a genuine) - have you put the Core257.bin Firmware on (I presume so) - So if it will not update then you will have to wait until you get a remote because the Key Emu is apparently not turned on, and there is no way that you can access the Menu without a remote.

DBoxHead, Can you go to System Information and post what it says in there? as the Crypstar 1.5 is the current Firmware for Starview 1 okay.

If you want further information on the Starview Range and tutorial then click on the Starview Link in 2nd line at the bottom of post, good luck.

thats how i learnt to get this far, i followed the instructions to the letter, just need remote. i also had some problems with my mates kids box a couple of months ago and was ably helped by anto, cacti kid, des, etc. i had us all scratching our heads, but as usual the afterdawn crew came through in the end.(not that there was ever any doubt).
thanks again, i will add that link to my favourites list and use it before i come on and wreck heads, i am not afraid to trawl through all the previous posts.
    Wheelo.

Wheelo Glad I could be of some assistance. I have the SV1 and the box super (SV3) and I find them great so you'll have no problem learning how to flash, turn on EMU etc, and if you get stuck there'll always be someone to help, now bring on your remote. :)

Looked in system information and it says the following:
    Stairview
    API Ver:4.00e_E
    Boot Ver 7.0
    7 June 2007

    Is this correct ?

That is exactly correct, that is the file that was modded to AU, so you definatley have the correct firmware on the SV1.

Any idea why I would be getting 0 channels found ? As I had originally flashed with the box version might this have messed it up? I am NTL. Would inputting the keys/resetting factory defaults help ? Or is it time for me to give up ???

Inputting keys will make no difference as you cannot find any channels. You have the correct firmware installed so I would start with the connections and double check that they are connected correctly. It may sound obvious but you'd be surprised at the number of people who have found out that a cable or scart lead ends up to be the problem. Also remove any splitters on the line while you do the scan.

You do not need EMU on to scan for channels, you switch it on afterwards, not that it should cause a problem.

Right I have checked all the cables and they are all fine. I have taken it to a friends house to see if it works there. However they are Chor*s and i am N*L. When the installation menu comes up it does not have chorus as a providor...it has NTL, TW..etc but no chorus. Do you think it is worthwile checking it in a firends house ? If so how do I get chir*s up as a providor ???

Ah, you are in the Emerald isle, I'll have to get back to you as I'll need to check the firmware you need as to my understanding, and I could be wrong you may be using the UK fix.

Hi all this is my first ever entry so i am sorry if I am in the wrong place to be asking this question.

I have had a starview original for over two years and have updated the firmware on not only that but many of my family and friends boxes too but I have now met my match. I am in eire and my supplier is N*L. But my work pal has asked me to load the latest firmware onto his The Box-T (think its C***s) and it wont let me even load the firm ware. I have downloaded the latest from eamos Library but I keep getting, V4.03_051005 flash update fail. I dont wanbt to let my buddy down can anyone lend some advise please.

There is no specific Irish or UK firmware for the Starview 1, as I have said, you have got the correct Firmware installed okay. As regards the Cho**s provider issue, all you should need to do is Menu - 1570 to enter the Cas System Menu and press Set Default Key and exit out to TV, (That is if you wish to try the setup at your friends) when you go back in it should have been restored. The essential point that you need to check, (And I Know It Sounds Silly) is that you do have a LIVE cable feed, and that you do have that feed plugged into the Cable Input Socket, and make sure that you do a Factory Reset before doing another Automatic Scan like so >>>>>

Turn on the box, press menu go down to Factory settings OK and enter pin Ok to confirm.
Accept English OK and go to installation OK.
Select correct provider i.e. NTL, C/W or TW.
    Then automatic scan
Once the channels are found, exit back to the Main Menu screen
    Enter 1570 via the keypad.
Go down to the bottom option and turn EMU to ON.
Now exit 3 times and go to S*y Sports and let it update.

Hi malci, I only mentioned Ireland as I had a nag in the back of the head about a UK fix and just wanted to check. You've saved me the trouble.

    Cheers

I also mentioned the connections as a lot of ppl do get it wrong without realising.

    The Box T?

There are currently 5 SV boxes out ATM SV1, SV2(The Box), SV3 (The Box Super), SV4 (The Box Super USB) and SV5 (The Box PVR).
OK found The Box -T in Eamos I stand corrected. !st are you sure you have the correct comm port selected in the uploder?
