Excuse me axxxo mate, think it needs flashing, rashid - when was the last time you had or you updated the box with new firmware, is it less than a week or is it longer than a week? (I know you came on late last night or early this morning) but we need to know that information.

No patsy, you are in the UK I presume, there is no need for that now, as the fix is not used now to flash over it, far easier method. What you want is this The Box 4.55.rar it is a new release 4th Dec 08, and you just use one BIN file, it comes with the Instruction and Loader GTRom 4.03. You will find it in Eamo's FTA Library at the bottom of my post, go into The Box Folder, then Firmware and there it is at the top, click in there and Download, you will need Winrar to unzip it.

ill throw my 2 cents in too

try turn the emu off then go back to a station and you will get the scrambled bad channel bit then do the menu 1570 then hit the default key BEFORE you turn emu back on see how that goes for ya

Thanks, got it and it is sitting on my desktop now. So when I am ready to update my box, do I then just connect my null modem cable, have the box on standby and then click onto the folder, honestly no idea what to do with technology lol, gives me a sore head trying to figure it out, without the help of all you people I would be banging my head off a wall by now

    Hello to all worried people,

Just thought to share this info. I have this shared Cloned Star**** 1 box(TW glasgow area) which i flashed several time with new and old firmware. But of no use, then i finally settled down with old firmware for clone and used the Keymaster for manually inserting the code.It resolved my problem for the time being untill the new FIX is out.

Hope this is useful. The keymaster tool bar can be found at www.Thechatterbox.cc website. Its spyware/ adware proof. I am using that ATM.

    Cheers

Then make sure that you unzip it and get The GTRom 4.03 and Bin file 4.55eE_api seperate. and then follow this - courtesy of Celtic >>

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM 4.03 Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click b1n File and browse to the firmware 4.55 eE_api.bin where you downloaded it to on your PC, double click it, or highlight and just open it, and it will appear in the BIN file box.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.

Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE, (important you have a little patience here)

    The Starview will then reboot

Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV

It just might be axxxo mate, but I got the impression very late last night or early this morning (which ever way you look at it), that it wasn/t but he has not answered the question, can't help if we don't know, and as moggser posted, that is all he needs if he has updated, but I don't think he has. But could be wrong - Cheers anyway mate.

lol. I am laughing to myself as I am just so stupid, I know all the info is there for me but this Gtrom loader, where is it, is it in these files that I have unzipped or do I have to download it from somewhere else, the folder on my desktop when i go into it says binfile and application, is that is all that is supposed to be there

Yes, Application is the loader, so drag it out to to your Desktop and it will turn into a RED ARROW pointing downwards, that is the GTRom 4.03 Loader okay, let us know how you go on.

Edit:- There is a little release note with it - that is everything, just follow what I posted up above.

You are better with your own cable and Adaptor, you will get the drivers on CD to install, for the time being have a look at the link marked Starview in 2nd line at the bottom and read down to the part about assigning the COMM port.

EDIT:- Also have a look here, for assigning the COMM port instruction and guide (I know it is for the Super, but I want you to look at the assigning COMM port to the Adaptor part only okay).

    Hi,

I got 25 x 7 starview box and am trying to flash it without any joy. i have flashed twice using GTrom and thebox_h20081204_455eE_api.bin

but all i get the '-' staying on the last led and the box logo on the tv. i assume im using the wrong bin file? please can someone point me in the right direction?

You are not using the wrong BIN File Are you using the GTRom 4.03 and have you ticked the App File Only box, if so then delete the firmware and download and try another, if it stays with the - on the LED display then go to the link marked Starview and follow the bad flash guide its the first one at the bottom, because it does seem that you might have had a bad flash. So you might have to try it several times with an older firmware, but don't get mixed up if you use the older firmware for the bad flash method then make sure it is the GTRom 4.00 and BIN file 4.51 until you get it back, then revert back to the 4.55 and GTRom 4.03.

yes, it seems like a bad flash, have ticked the app file only box. Used the GTrom v4.00.

I have read that theres no perm fix for starview? Im trying to find the fix from earlier this year so at least i can input the codes manually to get it to work, does anyone know?

Have tried and tested the bad flash method and it eventually works.

    Thanks in advance.
