    That is the wrong version.
Sounds like you have a clone. You need v257e FIXED.

    v4.00 is for genuine boxes

If you are sure it is a genuine box (and the vent count supports that) then you need v4.00 firmware

As pip said use 2.57eE fixed as it works on both clone and genuine boxes, better to play it safe.

Are you sure you have the correct com port selected in GTRom? Try selecting the other ports in turn ie com port 2 etc

There is nothing wrong with the convertor. Let's see how it's confiured on your PC. Click start/control panel/system. Click on the hardware tab then on the plus sign on ports in the list. Tell me what's listed there.

Ok so you have nothing on ports 1-4. Did you install the drivers for the USB convertor? Has windows recognised it as a new hardware device?

Basically your pc is not connecting to your box that is why GTRom stays at 0% and comes up with flash failed.

It should appear as usb to serial bridge with a port number assigned to it. The port number can be changed if it is outside the ports 1-4 range so don't worry about that.

You MUST have the adaptor connected to your PC for it to show up in the device list.

Dead easy! Go back to the control panel/hardware tab/device manager. Ports plus sign then right click on the usb to serial bridge select properties/port settings/advanced. On the bottom left of the pop up box you will see the com port number with a drop down arrow. click the arrow and select a port in the 1-4 range then ok and exit all. Select the same port in GTRom and away you go.

    Sounds complicated but really easy.
