    To update a Clone SV , you will need 3 things first .

    1. A Null Modem Cable (9 pin female to 9 pin female)
    2. GT Rom Loader (Software)
    3. 2.57_fixed .bin file (Firmware)

    Number 1 , you got it
    Number 2 can be downloaded below , thanks to Eamo
    Number 3 can be got here http://www.speedyshare.com/701502769.html

    Eamo's SV Library
    http://eko.4shared.com/

    UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL
    1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
    2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with
    PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for
    this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
    3. Open up GTRom loader or whatever sofwtare you have
    for loading image on the box.
    4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the
    2.57 update BIN File file that you have
    5. Now click download button and you still see the
    file being downloaded.
    6. Once complete a message will apppear saying
    something like "download successful".
    Wait till the SV reboots and disconnect from PC , Go back to you TV and connect it back up and should be working fine

    You open the GT ROM Loader and not the .bin file , delete the 2 files off your pc and download new ones , they might be corrupt

    The GT ROM Loader might be in .rar file , you will need to have Winrar to open it , Try downloading this one and see if it works
    gt rom loader

    If you go to My Computer > Properities > Device Manager , you will see your COM ports there

    you only should have 1 com port on the back of your pc before you plug the cable in turn your pc off then connect it then re start your pc then connect to your box are you sure you have a null modem cable as there has been some confusion over these 9 pin female to 9pin female and should say null modem on it

    That looks like a permissions issue, looking for username/password. Your normal user might not have permissions to access COM ports. When it asks for username/password, don't enter your normal username, enter administrator and the administrator password.
    You do know the administrator password.
