think you misunderstand what scouser is saying to you, youve put starview 2 the box firmware onto an original or older starview receiver, just flash it again with the correct firmware and itll be fine
sorry scouser got that one in just afetr you

When you say the Gtromloader doesnt work, does it say "incorrect model" or something along that line. Are you using XP or Vista?

    I am using XP,
the starview box doesnt go on standby or nothing it just has one freen line and thats it, ive downloaded the correct firmware and ive tried to make it work on GTRom but still it wont work and i think it is because its not turning on standby, i have connected the null modem..

Ok lads, I need help! I've never used a Starview "The Box" before. I've just received one and want to know what to do from the start. Do I just follow the instructions in the leaflet or is there something else I need to do. I've read stuff about a null modem but I don't think I have the RS232 port on my laptop. I'm not technical at all. Please help!

just follow the links provided in my signature and in scousers last post also, there are links for pictuers for null modem cables and adaptors if you dont have a serial port, take your time, youll kick yourself when you find how easy it is

I read on one of the forums that the Starview 9 x 20 vent is a clone. Should I try it out or send it back?
