look at this link to make sure if you have a clone or not, there is firmware for genuine and clones so either one will work but if you do have a clone contact your supplier and give them an ear bashing!

You can use it to flash many box types or if you know about DTE to DCE then you will find a few other uses, e.g null modem cables can transfer info between PCs but that was the good ole days. Ethernet and other protocols have far surpassed this method.

What channels are you missing and have you checked the channels named TV*** where *** indicates a number?

Hi. Can someone help me understand the difference between the CryptSt@r binary and the firmware binary? Should I use gtrom to send both to the box, or is only one required? If both, in what order should they be applied? The instructions in Cetic's original post says to select the binary file, but doesn't say which one. Sorry if I'm being thick :)

Also, the latest firmware file named for Ireland is 450 - but is there any reason why I shouldn't use version 454? The reason I ask is that I've seen channel dumps whose names include Dublin and 454.

    thanks,
    owenm.

For a genuine SV 2 called "The Box", you use Gtromloader V4.00 and version 4.50 firmware, (As per Celts instructions). There are later firmware revisions and its up to you to decide if you need them as 4.50 is fine. Any versions from 4.52 onwards requires Gtromloader 4.03.

Thanks sc0user. And can you tell me about the line (in Celt's post)
"You will need version Cryptstar - V1.4..."

I've downloaded it, but what do I do with it?

    cheers,
    owenm.

Thats for a Starview 1 you said you had a Starview 2. Dont put the wrong firmware on the wrong box, you need to be sure of what model you have.
