it sounds like its not detecting the box or the cable, go to your start menu, right click on computer, then select manage, click on device manager and go to ports (COM&LPT), right click on the cable you installed with the driver software (which i hope youve done already) and go to properties, click on port settings then on advanced and assign your cable to com 1, 2, 3 or 4. you may have to do a restart but sometimes it works without it.

The remote might be ok, try this to see.
If you have a camera phone, put it on camera mode, point the remote at the camera & press a few buttons. If the remote is working you should see the infa red LED flashing on the screen, if not then the remote is dead.

Hi Im having the same problem, i changed the setting as request but still nothing! I have installed the driver and flashed a lot of other boxes with no problems.

Im using GTRom Loader 4.0 and the bin file is the 257 as im not sure if its a clone or not so been extra safe. Not sure what else i can do any help would be greatly appriciated.

    Cheers

are you using the usb adaptor?you should see prolific usb to serial comm port in ports in the device manager, this will be the cable you are using if its detected, try uninstalling, restart and reinstall, if your on vista it may take a few tries, took me a couple of times.if your not using the usb adaptor and just the serial cable it may be the wrong one
