my uncle got the box super and unlike mine his has the extra outputs on the back. it has 7.05 on it. should it be upgraded to 7.09? just being sure in case it starts rebooting and he has no patience at all.

Just got a new one meself steo. rebooted during the boxing last night, has 7.05 on it. I`m going to give it a while & see what happens. I might have to try either the 8.00 or 7.09.
If you`re trying any of these, let us know how you get on. ;)

Hi everyone I have a Starview 1 (original), I've donwloaded the GTRomLoader + Cryptstar v1.4 (Genuine) firmware.
When I click the Download button in the GTRomLoader after connecting the starview to my PC with a null model cable, there is no progress on the download bar; and after a short while I get the Flash Update Failed message.

I've confirmed that the Com Port is correctly selected and speed is 115200, not changed any other settings for my com port.

I've switched off/on the SV1, put into stand-by from the button on the front of the unit, no joy.

Any help, much appreciated - thank you.

Other than having to manualy update keys, and very occasional screen freeze, the SV1 works a treat!

might be the cable you are using to connect to the box have you a 9 pin port or a usb connection

Hi - thanx for the response, I was also thinking that it might be the cable, I tried from my laptop using a USB/Serial converter, and also from my PC which has a serial port.

    Both fail.

The cable that I have is actually the one referenced in the sticky post at the start of this thread from Maplin (L71BT).

    Any other thoughts?

    Hi Moggser

Yep, added the USB->Serial Prolific drivers, also connected directly via serial port in my PC, same result. So it suggests either the null modem cable is the problem, or maybe something wrong with the serial port in the SV1?

I'm assuming that the firmware and loader are fine because others have managed to use them.

delete the loader and firmware and download again and try and see will it work.

good fight, i thought lee would lose but then i knew he'd win from more punches and in round 10 it all changed.

Hi Karljd, tried that - same result, I'll try and get another null modem cable to see if that makes a difference...
