STARVIEW UPDATING FIRMWARE - NO CODE BEGGING HERE

For some reason i had problems with times etc yesterday - have no idea why, My date was set to sometime in March and time was 00.23 yes it was 22nd sept at 18.10 - something went wrong coz i dotn think you can change the date just set the time , didnt look at any channels.But turend it off- it came on again and jsut froze saying the box. Turned off from plug and then it rebooted and went back to normal. HAve no idea why but can only assume it was an update erorr or soemthing, so yes if you have lost a freq try re scanning - its only takes a few mins and it should come back to normal. I woudl definatly take up Malci@s suggestion and re instal or re scan

 

hi everyone, i need some help. i just offered to flash a friends box, as i have done my own twice, and another friends i thought it would be no probs, but when i tried to flashed it, it just comes up flash failed and know i have lost all his channels except free to air channels. now when i have went to type the codes in mannuly they are not working. can some one please help. ta

my starview box lost all non freeview channels yesterday. it has been working fine for weeks with the 7.09e firmware & i've checked the cas menu is fine & i've done a new auto scan. my friend who lives a few miles away has also had the same problem - can anyone help please???

 

are the channels there but just not showing? if so check the EMU is on, if no joy then try a re install - check see if symbol rate has changed - depends on your area, sometimes you haveto change it from TW to C&W in this area, lol think they do it to upset us

the channels are found when i do the scan but then a blue box saying data being updating shows on screen. this stays at 0%.

i can get the freeview channels but that is it. when i 1st got the box i flashed it, turned emu on & it worked fine. what is this symbol rate & change in frequencies all about???

 

depends on where you live but have you waited for it to update- my EV box takea quite some time for it to update as its a box we dotn use everyday.
For some reason in my area the symbol rates change - and that might onyl happen on one box so it depends on what signal i suppose is sent down the line and what area its linked to. ( sorry just my thoughts lol so dont quote me), again check the emu if you have re scanned as that could have gone off. IN the last few months ive learnt to try everything if one of my boxes goes up the swanny, and well i usually sort it out.last night i could not get itv2 - why i have no idea i waited for it to update after 20 mins - nothing, did a rescan and well it re appeared, so it could just have been a weak signal. It can be a pin at times but well well worth it. It often says bad or scarambled channel - usually whilst it is waiting to update.
But ive foudn that the box that only gets used at weekends take longer to update where as my other boxes are on on a daily basis and seem to update quicker- ok different brands but all do same job but i do think that it depends on how often its used as to how quickley it updates as maybe it has to "catch up" on the changes to new codes

 

thanks linny. i use my box everyday and it has been out of action for about 20 hours now (as has my friends).

how do i change the 'symbol rate' & what do i change it to and from???

 

unbelievable linny - i switched it on and off at the back of the box, left it for 1 min & hey presto, all back working !!! do you think they've changed something in the leeds area & now the box has readjusted itself???

 

They changed "things" as such, your box was just in an update loop.

 

Scouser hope you can help like before but I doubt it.Have a mate who has an original starview.He lost most channels and despite tryin to update with the old firmware he went and updated I think with the starview 2 firmware!Now all he get is one static green bar on the front.Assume this is bricked and beyond repair?

DesB excellent call she is starting to flash. Its an original first series starview so which version of firmware should i use Im puttin on the 257e api fixed? am i right? or should it be the cryptview v1.4 genuine many Thanks

 

Good thats a start.. can you turn it on? press menu then system Info and tell me what it says!!

 

common problem why epg stops wrong date box off wait then on usually fixes it.

 

u might need both i would say as first is autoroll and crypt was the april fix to get boxes working again.
