Should be getting a volt output from that line. As said I havent looked at an SV3 but I have seen the output drop on earlier models. Not only a C11 fault but had to replace the D7 diode with a 1n4007.

As said mate havent looked inside one like Ferg, so not even sure if they have the same cap/diode layout, (time for you to throw up a few pics), hint....hint ;)

Hi mate, yes they look similar, wickman fuse, C11, D7, etc. But does the C11 have a higher rating, e.g 16V? I assume they corrected this. The cap looks fine from a visual inspection, but they dont always need to show visible signs of deterioration to be at fault.

Pictures are crystal but I obviously cant see the ratings. Can you throw one up of the MOBO just to see if it has a header or are they similar to a 1st Gen, (Jtag points on PCB).

As said never done an SV3 so only trying to see what I can over the "tinternet", but may be able to help somewhat ;)

EDIT: Just had a look, and certainly looks like Jag points are on the PCB. Cant be sure need a closer pic ;)

Cheers, although the voltage is maintained on the C11, looks like they have addressed it by raising the capacitance ;) The Jtag points appear to be at the top right off the MOBO as you look down on it, beside the upper RHS board screws, although have to get my binoculars out to verify :)

If you are Jtagging it I would try the SV1 trap, (unlock bin). LOL would love to have one to experiment with :) Jkeys might read it also.

I have changed the C11 for a 16V 1000uf and resoldered (neatly) each terminal on the tuner to cancel out any dry joints to no avail, I still cant understand the 23V output from the PSU being dead, I have a starview clone PSU which I just checked and the 23V as you said is live but will not fit in this box to try, any ideas to what could be causing this before continuing?

Just noticed something, your C21 is leaking/blown, (or looks that way), replace that also ;) 1uf @ 100V will do. At a guess you were probably getting around 22.8V from the clone?

Apologies mate I have to head off for a while but should be back later ;) Dont give up LOL.

Your right it is leaking, well spotted, it's actually easier to see it on the picture than it is looking at it, i'll change that and report back. Cheers mate.

BTW 22.7V for the clone ;)

Hey, I have been having problems with the box pvr recently. I am in Dublin on n*l and my channels have been messed up for the past week. They are very jumpy and are continuously scrambled. They begin to load, get to 10-15% and then blank or back to the beginning.

I have updated the latest firmware, version 4.506 oct 15, but it has not made any difference.

    Anyone got any ideas??

    Cheers

Make sure when you do a factory reset that you turn the box of at the back then back on then do your scan

ALSO SCAN WITH NO SPLITTERS and if you are using a splitter you will have broken or crappy reception

I've changed the C21, C11, D7 diode and still nothing from the 23V output all the other outputs remain as before, I managed to get the clone PSU in with the working 23V output in the box to test if it would bring in the channels and it still didn't get anything? going give it another go tomorrow after work, thanks for the help so far ;)

Sorry mate as said its hard working online, are you checking the voltage just as it enters the PSU? Or have you checked it across the ribbon also? Could be a faulty pin or track.

No problem mate, I'm checking at the back of the board behind the socket and at the end of the ribbon where it plugs into the board also with the other working PSU in it still wont find channels, got me stumped this one mate?

Sorry as said it could be a number of things, check the tracks also.
Very unusal for an SV3 to have cap failure already, it must have come from an unhappy home :)

Joking apart I hope you get to the end of it ;)
