    Hi Lads

I got a sv3 super box yesterday, been trying to down load 8.00e.exe
as my supplier tutorial said but only getting flash fail update, I
have repeated the procedure all morning, I have try 2 rs232
cables, both has worked before on sv1&2 boxes. I have taken off all
    Virus’s programmes still no joy.
    Hope you can help

if you leave the flash update fail on for a few seconds it may change to successful, if not try the bad flash method or delete the firmware you are using and download it again from the link below.

Vichead, I see you are using the RS232 this isnt the correct cable .. you need a Null Modem Cable , and also it looks like you are using a PC or Lapy with Vista on it, if possible can you get on to a PC with XP as there are a lot of issues regarding Vista!!

    Hi Desb

One of the cable I used was the one supplied with the sv3 super box and use the tutorial that also was included, the tutorial called the cable rs232. You can read the tutorial, it can be down loaded from cablecity.4shared.com.

    P S.
I just recieved a phone call from my friend who said the cable in
the box was the wrong cable and he used a cross over cableand it loaded. what!s is the differance in cables?

    Regards and thanks Vic

Without getting into the technicalities of cables, its a null modem cable that you need to flash the box the supplied RS232 sometimes (but not often works) you can get them in Maplins:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=Null Modem&source=15

from the computer?go to wherever you saved it and delete it,if your talking about the box then overwriting it with other firmware will take care of that, what box do you have and whats the problem?

sorry des took no notice of the cable issue, ignored it actually as the post said they worked before?!

Hi Des, you're quite right about Vista, and the biggest problem of all, it's made by Microshaft.

Vichead, the 'cross-over' cable you're mate referred to, is called a null modem cable. A lot of box suppliers include an rs232 cable, which will not work. The 2 cables look the same, have the same 9-pin ends on them, but they are wired differently internally. This confusion over rs232 & null modem has been going on for a long time.

yeah that Vista isssue is going on a long time, and put it with the RS232 and its a recipe for disaster alright!!

    Do a factory reset

connect the b0x via the null modem cable to the pc.
Turn the b0x off at the back.
Start the download & after about 2 secs turn the b0x back on.
You might have to try this a few times until you get it.
