still cant get download for starview

i have a RS-232 serial cable my dad has used it to download when he had a pc, it says at the back of the starview manual how to download software thru that cable, am i using the wrong 1 if so whot kind do i need n why has my dad been able to do it. he went onto starview.com but i dont have a clue

yes on pc, but when i go to gtrom n try n download it says cant open serial port also file name does not correct, says last error; the system cannot find file specified thats wot appears when i try n download the software wots wrong

 

please help when i go into the box saying download its cumin up cant open serial port,model name does not correct also last error;the system canot find file name, i'm using my pc the starview is turned on + the rs-232 cable is connected so can u help me please missed the celtic game cos of this driving me mad. is there not a link you can give me? please

 

there is no link as such .
when u connect ur box to the pc put it on standby, then open up gtromloader, make sure gtrom loader says what i have posted earlier.
then download the v4 . open bin file and put v4 into it !

Ps What firmware is on your box at the moment?

 

wot is firmware? also wot is v4? has the box got 2 be on r off when downloading?

 

firmware i take it u mean networks i hope? there is ntl, telewest, 1 called c+w. i dont know wot v4 is?it keeps saying file not found, cant open serial port please help, sorry about this.

 

no probs mate, can u do this: hit menu on your remote then hit system information and tell me do u see something like version 4.00e or 258e or similar !
also the box has to be on standby for downloading.
firmware really means the stuff that makes the box tick !
its nothing to do with the provider u use , ie n*l etc ..

 

my box is in the computer will i put in on 2 tv?
