If you can burn DVDRW and erase them with different software save youself some time and effort use that instead of Nero both them logs one thing springs up on both of them DVD high compatibility mode: No ? might be worth looking at that......

I tried going through your log and comparing it to one of mine. The first big difference was the Power error, which stopped the burning process. We differ in that my burning was done Track at Once and you are doing a Disk at Once.

What I would do if I were you:

Make sure the media you are using supports the higher speeds so it should say 8x on the box.

The next thing would be to disconnect all the extra drives, like the zip, other DVD and scanner. If you end up with only the WD hard drive on it's IDE channel, which is where it should be if you do this, make sure it is set to single and not master.

After you do this, compare your logs to each other.

I suppose there is always a chance the drive is bad and since you can't check it, you won't know for sure.

    Hi killalot & Saltgrass

    Thanks for your responses guys.

I'll give your suggestions a go.The Scanner is connected to the PC via a SCSI interface,so I really cant see it making that much of a difference really, but nevertheless,I will disconnect all the other drives, etc as suggested.

Regarding the Track-At-Once and Disc-At-Once,it does not allow me to choose which option I have.It selects the Disk-At-Once automatically. It's that bit that really p---es me off.

Uninstall Nero. Do a fresh install. Make sure your jumpers are set properly on your drives. Also make sure to use the right program to burn the dvd and try accessing it from the drop down menu from start smart. If using the icons make sure the opens with box is correct before clicking the icon.

    Hi skinymon

Done that, been there.I've lost count of the no.of times I have uninstalled Nero and re-insttalled it,so we're going nowhere with that.

Much as I appreciate your efforts,if the jumpers were incorrectly set,I would not be registering the drives in BIOS as they currently do.

However,I'll give your Smart Start a try,but I think I've been there too.

    Thanks
