I'm new to backing up dvd's and new to the forums.
    SO,
    Hi I'm the FALSE.
    Now that were acquainted(lol),
mind if I ask a few questions?

About a month ago I bought a copy of DVDMagic. Piece of crap that it is I promptly smashed the disc into tiny, tiny pieces.
(Lesson learned... never by software from meijer. lol)

Anyway, I bought 123 copy dvd and have backed up a few movies. First back up was "2 Fast 2Furious". Worked perfect. It plays in both my dvd players and in my xbox.
Next I tried backing up "Kill Bill vol. one and two".
This is where it gets weird, both the "Kill Bill" play on one of my dvd players and my xbox. They do not play on my other dvd player.

I used the same brand dvd's the same ripping/burning software, and the same pc.

Could anyone explain why one dvd plays on all my stuff and the other dvd's only play on some?

Thanks for any and all answers, feedback, comments, and flames.

Some stand alone dvd players just don't like burnt dvd disc's. I have two players, a Sony and a Digitrex.
The Sony will play some burnt disc's whilst the Digitrex plays all of them.
Using good quality media and slower burn speeds may help in a player having a better chance of playing it.
And most of all, your player is able to play burnt disc's, many older ones don't.

Thank you I understand all that but,
do you have any idea why a copy of one movie plays and a copy of a different movie did not?

What may have happend is that Kill Bill 1 & 2 had the Option for DTS sound. Some DVD players will not play this format or will play but with no sound as the DTS has to be decoded by a seperate Decoder for example a "DTS Amp"

I konw XBox and PS2 does not support DTS yet!!

As an experiment you could download AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and select the 5.1 AC3 sound and give this a go.

Here is the link for you: You have 21 days full working trial

Sounds like a good old media/standalone player issues to me. It is a fact of life that some media works, some doesn't.
As long as you use good media you have a fighting chance of getting a good burn. My Pioneer standalone plays discs my Toshiba standalone won't. And vice-versa.

That's what I'm saying, your player will play one movie and will not play another, example of that is my Sony, it only plays what it feels like.
    Hi Mark.

    Just remembered this,
on 2 fast 2 furoius I copied the entire movie. It worked on all my players.

On kill bill I got rid of all the special features and copied just the movie.

Could this have anything to do with it?

Maybe, you may have made an error when deleting things.
Re-do it will everything included and see if it works.
    It's worth a go.

This is why it is a good idea to use RW media. Personally I do not think that leaving out the extras would have made any difference to the playability of the dvd.

One thing life has taught me was to give everything a go. I love experimenting with different methods of doing things. Necessity is the mother of invention. All advice is welcome.
Unless it is about how to coax a monkey down from a tree, in order to get it to got to the shops for a pint of milk & a loaf of bread, you know, first thing in the morning, when you want a cup of coffee & some toast.

Not much use in a dvd burning forum.

    LOL
