I am running OS10.4.7 and have been use Mactheripper to back up my dvd's. I am trying to save some space on my hard drive and want to stuff some of the TS files I have. I have Stuffit deluxe 9.0, and when I stuff the TS files they are no smaller than the original. Any thoughts?

Best thing would be to dump your ripped files to an external HD, or failing that, and assuming you have enough space on your HD, compress the ripped TS folders with DVD2oneX or Popcorn until you are ready to burn them to a disc. That should get your TS folders to 4GB instead of 6-7GB each

I don't want to do some sort of compression that would detroy some of the data which DVD2OneX does, correct?

If you want to fit a 6GB rip onto a 4GB DVD disc you will have to compress it in some shape or form, unless you have extracted the movie only and it is of a size that you can burn without needing to compress it. The other alternative is to burn the rip to a dual layer disc.

DVD2oneX has does a good job in significantly reducing file sizes without losing too much quality (how well depends on the starting size of the ripped Video_TS folder). The other thing to remember is that in some cases it is the ONLY way to prepare a protected Video_TS folder for burning.

The best thing you can do is get an external firewire HD for storing your Video_TS files - then you don't need to compress them, you get them off your main HD and most importantly you always have a backup. Failing that you could just burn the files straight to a DVD and clear them off that way.

Compressing video is a long and complicated task - much more so than compressing an image file or a program. I doubt if the Stuffit engine is up to it yet. I'm not aware of any program that can stuff a Video_TS file without compromising the size of the display or the quality in some way (dropping frames for example). But that doesnt mean that there isnt one. Try looking on versiontracker.com
