subtitles in VLC

    Here's the problem:I use Video Lan (aka VLC media player) for all my animes with dual audio and subs. When I download via p2p (with torrents) I end up with the .avi file. When I open it in VLC though it has the subs like I'd expect in the Video>Subtitles track>Track 1 menu. I don't think it is hardsubbed because the subs can be disabled. So my quesion is this-is there any way I can seperate this sub file from the .avi, so I can use it to burn with the .avi onto a DVD?
