The word links just showed up on my taskbar by the clock. It's not an icon, just a word, can't do anything with it. Any ideas on how it got there or what to do about it?

    1. Right click on taskbar
    2. Menu will appear
    3. Click at top, where it says "Toolbars".
    4. Uncheck "Links"

Thank you for your help. It keeps happening. It's from links in favourites. I've deleted it a hundred times and it keeps coming back. Would you have any idea how to permanently delete it?

Have you tried checking "lock the taskbar"?

No, I haven't tried that, but links keeps coming back in favourites and I think that's where it is coming from. When I delete it from there it disappears from taskbar. Then in five minutes its back again. Very strange, it just started doing that. Musta been an upgrade from microsoft.

What version of IE are you using? I have IE6 for those odd occasions when a page won't work properly in Firefox.
