I had the same Purple Ground problem, spent a few weeks looking for an answer. I finally solved the problem by installing a new landscape texture set. Here is the link to the texture set I used. It's over 300 Mb. long. It's called Oblivion Texture Replacer. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=708 I hope this solves your problem as well
ok i have the oldoblivion and all that from the stickied thread and i can do the tutorial part were the emperor dies and you have to go down the sewer well when i press to climb down the sewers it shuts my game down ive got everything on minimum and ive got it on windowed mode the game ran fine wen i did the first quest. any suggestions?? please im really desperate
you might want to check these Do you have the most recent version of oldblivion(I think the latest is 1.7)? Does your graphics card have the most recent driver? if that does not work go to the oldblivion site and see if anyone there has had a similar problem.
yes ive done everything there and it works but the sewer part wen i go to enter it ill check that site and let ya kno how it goes
If you still have problems set graphical settings to 'VERY LOW' disable additional plugins, And disable or close additional programs running in background (like IE windows, control panels, etc)
Hi, Recently installed Oblivion and having trouble with the distant rendering land thing. My specifications are: 3.0 Ghz Pentium D (overclocked at 3.5) 2gb Ram 7950 GTOC 512mb i've had these tested on the systems requirement lab to run with this game and it came full in everything so i'm a bit confused why the land is not being correct. The problem is that when i click the option for "distant rendering" the land (the floor) starts to lose it's colour and becomes a lot more basic and distorted. When the distant rendering is turned off the ground looks like it shuld do. I wondered if anyone could post any advice? Here's a printscreen:- thanks
i seem to have created an erradication of further replies however i worked it out. My gfx card struggled with my dual core processor, i installed some drivers from the windows site and all is well. Incidentally i noticed the colours on the ground were the same as the roofs of houses in the villages. thanks
I am not too familiar with said gfx issues however the colors you showed are not normal to oblivion and like you said probably an incompatability of gfx card. try running oblivion with only the main esm (no addons at all) see if that improves situation or re-installing the direct x that comes with the oblivion itself but if you worked it out like you said cool beans
Cool. Mine is minimal but i live with it. Solid purple water (transparent) and no real darkness day or night (its very bright everywhere day or in dungeons / buildings) nightimes fairly bright as well I can see almost all details even at night. I could never seem to reduce that at any settings however its not that big of deal
i've been searching for about 3 hours now and i need a fix for my game. it plays all well and good until i get to the part where Uriel Septim get's killed and the dude's like oh no he's dead then BAM game crashes out my card is supported i have ati radeon 9800 i think it may have something to do with the sound as when i am installing the voice2.bsa has problems with CRC so i dunno any help is greatly appreciated
I am not sure how to fix it directly. If that is in beginning of game I could probably make a character for you just before sewers exit. However if your audio files are corrupt it is probably important to reinstall oblivion from scratch. If you wish a link to an alternate start location script let me know i'll hunt it down But if one audio file is corrupt more probably is.
ok i put on the unofficial patch and it fixed it for the most part. BUT when i get out the ground is purple with little map things on them any help there?
OLDBLIVION may help with some graphics enterface problems.. I myself don't need that however you can try to see if that will correct it. there is some previous posts about it here on this forum read those. Aloso getting 'SHIVERING ISLES' and installing that updates oblivion alot
Hi, I'm a great fan of The Elder Scrolls-series but unfortunately I am somewhat worried if my computer will run Oblivion and all it's expansions on an enjoyable detail-level. Thus I turn to you as you obviously have much more insight in matters concerning computers and games. My computer is a laptop; Asus Aspire 9302 WSMI with 2 gigs RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300SE with 128 megs of GDDR2 -- or atleast it will be as soon as I receive it. Thanks in advance. Yours, Rylli
At very least goto elderscrolls.com get oblivion compatability specs there. While Laptopsare getting more powerful these days, they are not always as powerful as a desktop and it is difficult to see if they will work the same. Too bad oblivion does not do a trial to see
Hello Again, I found the recommended specifications, and everything seems to be allright although the processor makes me wonder; the FAQ recommends a 3 GHz processor but my computer specifications say 1.6 GHz, though it is an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50. Will this present itselft to being a problem? Thanks again. Yours, Rylli the Newbie
Unfortunatly the Base info says minimum recommened is 2. However others that have used less than that seemed to be able to. I do know when i had just above 2 the game would crash computer every ten minutes like clockwork. However all the wquiptment at time was not compatable. If you worry you might want to try Elder Scrolls 3 first to see if that runs well it uses a little less but would put the computer through its paces if it crashes on that alot it will most undoubtably not work for Oblivion. And ES3 is cheap (and in long run with tens of thousands of mods and 2 or more expansions out there alot bigger) Its not as advanced as oblivion though Also like i said before 'OldBlivion' May help with older computers however it will not work as far as I know with new updates like 'Shivering Isles'
Hello, I decided I am going to give it a try anyway. Hopefully I'll get atleast a small share of all that eye-candy the game has to offer. Thank you again. Best wishes, Rylli
