nod32 should install, I helped my grandma set up her computer and she bought nod32 and had to install it, make sure it is from eset.com, "don't use cracked antiviruses."

did you read this and follow it

A valid username and password is required in order to download the software.

If you have not purchased NOD32 you may purchase it, download a free 30-day trial, or contact a company representative for assistance.

The single-user trial version must be converted to the full commercial version using the "Convert to full" button - found in the control center, in the update settings. Convert to full can only be accomplished AFTER entering your username and password (which were emailed to you in your license email.

If you experience any problems converting your trial version to a full licensed version, please UNINSTALL your NOD32 trial version, and install the correct full version from the download locations below.

Installation Guide available for Eset NOD32 3.0 here.
Installation Guide available for Eset Smart Security here.
For all versions, the latest version of the virus signature database must be downloaded immediately using the update feature within the program after the installation has been completed to ensure the highest detection capabilities of the system.

Trend Micro Internet Security 2007,which has a firewall plus i have a firewall/router.

then for spyware programs etc. i use STOPzilla,Ad-Aware SE Personal,AVG Anti-Spyware and Spybot. I also use Evidence Elimintor, ccleaner, Registry Mechanic, Windows Registry Repair and Highjack This its a little overkill but I've haven't had to refortmat my machine in over three years using all this

I think Trend Micro is as good or better than NOD 32 but thats personal choice

Ad-aware is a spyware program and yes its freeware

Evidence Elimininator cleans your HD its a pay program ccleaner does about the same thing but its free

Registry mechanic and Windows Registry Repair are registry cleaner

you really need to google this stuff and read up on it

    NOD32 or AVG AntiVirus.
Both small, compact, use little memory, very regularly updated and come with their own firewall software, and actively scan your computer.

    FORGET NORTON.
That thing eats up system resources like it's nobody's business.
It's ridiculously slow and clunky and always runs about 20 processes in the background. Real system hog.
