I am new to the forum and was wondering if there was a step-by-step guide to backing up blu ray movies for viewing on PS3. I am planning to use a NAS box for storing the ripped movies and AnyDVD HD to rip the movies.
If you have a trial or full working version of AnyDVD HD working (the little Fox icon in your system tray), you can pick & choose just the main movie and whatever audio/sub streams you want to rip. Just remux to either m2ts or Blu-Ray.
Odin: I just got a mkv file(Blu-Ray movie)thats 7.95GB DTS audio is there anyway i can put this on a DVD-9 without spiting it ?
As-is; no. I'm assuming you want either m2ts or Blu-ray, if that is the case then you have two options. 1. Convert the DTS to AC3, and remux to m2ts. This will allow you to avoid recoding due to exceeding the capacity for a DVD9 and a non BD resolution. or 2. Recode to fit a DVD9 and resize to a BD compliant resolution and you can keep DTS. I prefer this method, although a little more time consuming.
I have a M2TS file on my PC but the PS3 won't pick it up on the network. Tried renaming it to everything and it still won't pick it up. Pikc sup everything else fine. Also, I tried burning to disc, the movie won't play. I can fast forward and see the movie but it won't play on its own. I used TsMuxer and converted the video to 4.1 I dont know what else to try....help ?
The problem is that I can't find 00000.m2ts file (which should be the biggest file as the main movie), all I'm finding is something like 00003.m2ts or 00010.m2ts And these files on bluray disc are aprox. 1-2 GB max. And main movie should be 25-40 GB in size, right? This "pick and choose" you mean with tsMuxeR?
The main movie isn't neccesarily 00000.m2ts, it could be any number. It is however the largest file, it could also be a combination of files. "Sort" the files by size (instead of by name), that way the largest will be first. When you figure out the main which file is the main movie, remove that one from tsMuxeR and open the corresponding MPLS file in the Playlist folder, this way, if there are several files to the main movie it will tell which ones and what order.
This thread (and also the other one in my signature) contains most of the information you need to do this, although admittedly reading through these long threads could be quite time consuming. I have been meaning to write a guide for quite some time now but I just haven't found the time. I did make a start and that was about all I did. I will try to do one soon but I can't promise as I am quite busy. In the mean time if you have any questions, just post them here. That's what I made this thread for.
Ryu77, great to hear from you... it's been a while, you must be busy. I have a few questions; 1. What is your preferred method of demuxing, tsMuxeR or eac3to? 2. Is quality retained better by using either one of the apps, or does it matter. 3. Does decoding take place during demuxing? Later, O!
Thanks for the reply.I used AnyDVD HD to rip the blu ray movie to my hard drive.I then provided the largest file(.m2ts) in the STREAM folder as the input to txmuxergui.I selected M2TS muxing as the output and started muxing. The resultant file is not recognized by my PS3.I put the file on my NAS box and am using the PS3 to access the media server (NAS box). Appreciate the patience.
Odin24: I have found what is causing my AVCHD PQ to be really pixel & also freezes. I have a error with TsMuxeR here what it say. Unsupported Format: Some tracks not recognized. This track was ignored...(the main movie file) Its always the main movie file that i get this error.Do you know how i can fixed this error with TsMuxeR.......? Thxs
Does it happen an all of your own rips or on some. I know on BD's with "digital copies" for portable players this happens to me but I don't get a pixelized picture. I believe the unsupported format error is from the AAC audio stream for the digital copy, for some reason tsMuxeR doesn't like some types of AAC.
Hey Odin, always busy... 1) I usually use tsMuxeR 2) When demuxing there is no quality loss ever as you are simply seperating streams back to their elementary level. 3) Decoding will only ever take place when something has called upon the video to be displayed, ie: Media Player or encoding application etc. tsMuxeR should never accept an AAC audio stream as this format is not part of the Blu-ray standard. NexGen76, I personally have never had this sort of trouble. If you are experiencing such difficulties, you could try loading the playlist file instead.
I have serveral Blu-ray movie and have been trying to rip them to my hard drive and then play back with window media. First I use AnyDvD to Rip the Blu-ray. Under the Stream folder I picked the biggest file, which contain the movie. Its a MPEG TS file which is about around 40GB. When I played it back in Window Media 11.6 and Window Media Classic the sound is very static. Is there anyway to impove the sound. The Picture is great btw. Maybe I'm not doing something right. Please any advice would be great as I am still new to this. Thank you for your time. Kyguth
