Well I'm glad that is over. Thank you btw. NOW can we post some food as I need a midnite snack and it's not very far away. ....gm
All I got for a snack before I go to bed is a bag of sunflower seeds. Not much of a snack, but it does the trick. Taking a handful at a time, cracking the shells open on one side of my mouth and eating them on the other side. Nice lil snack.
The GM requests a midnight snack. So it is ordered ! Lobster Cantonese style ( very tasty !) For something more to the GM's tastes, Grilled steaks
I'll be smoking a turkey again this year... They had the legs at the fair last week, but I opted for the sausage.
LOCO I would choose the sausage as well. NOT a big Turkey leg fan and smoking a whole turkey sounds like a "big" undertaking... do you do it or have it done?? ...gm
Do it myself of course. It's not hard, just takes all day. I have this smoker... http://www.brinkmann.net/Shop/Serie...-C&seriesname=Smoke`N Grill (810-5301-C)&id=0 It takes about 6-8 hours to smoke a medium sized bird. http://www.fabulousfoods.com/index....troller=article&article=19923&category_id=223
I've never been a big turkey fan myself. However, the last couple of years i've deep fried the bird and been thrilled with how it's come out. A ranch flavor injection, and typically less than two hours total cook time. It comes out great.
Friend of mine does that (fries a 12 lb bird) once a year, but the novelty has worn off. Sadly, I must admit, is that a very juicy and consistant bird comes from the $50 turkey dinner I buy at the local chain supermarket, with all the fixins.
@Loco fair looks nice, did you get any candy floss at it? @Jo - cooking turkey is easy, just buy one of those magic turkey bags and follow the instructions on the back, get a lovely juicy bird with no need to baste it or keep checking up on it!
Eva brings up a good point and lots of TURKEY will be served this year that way... but again the satisfaction of cooking it yourself the easy way is missing. lol. I like to fry my Thanksgiving Turkey if the possibility arises. Sometimes the step-mom buys a smoked turkey and some spiral cut ham. Yummy either way. ...gm
For Thanksgiving and Christmas we get a choice of either a turkey or a ham (smoked 12-15 lb) for us to enjoy. All we have to do is defrost it and put it in the oven for a couple hours. we have over 2000 turkeys and hams to pass out.
