Some HD's need a re-boot every so often, that's why the switch is on the back.

Thanks everyone: Got my 5000PVR this afternoon: flashed it; then, followed instruction book and did "Fast scan" 3 times on different symbol rates (>1/2 hour each time): no success; Then did a "Powerscan": BINGO! Have got just over 200 channels now; The 5000PVR is very good: It automatically puts all the channels into several 'Favorites', so easy to move around all the channels.

Thank you again to all the Tech Guys#

PS: the Box gets VERY HOT: is this normal?

There is a hdd inside the pvr thats why it gets hot!
(well in the ones that have one!)
Especially if you have it stacked on top of all your other boys toys lol
Maybe they should have put a small fan inside that activated when you plug in the hdd

    No, I don't have an HDD in my 5000PVR (I bought it without HDD, thinking I might add one in later once I learn't to use the EV box);
Anyway, it does get very hot despite good ventilation, etc; Even on 'Standby' overnight, it's hot esp on the Left side of the box. Do other people find this? Is it OK?

The power supply is on the left hand side of the box, just make sure you dont cover the vents, leave some air space and it'll be OK.

    Hi All....

As a fan of the standard Eurovox boxes (got 2!), i do have a few questions regarding the new PVR box if anyone can help....

Has anyone got one that works fine with the HD? (sorry...just there are alot of peeps with problems with this box by the looks of it!)

    Does it auto-roll?

Can you pick a program via EPG and select it to record e.g. a late night NFL game (you can see me need here...lol) or does it only record what you are watching there and then?

apologies if these been answerd already and thank you in advance!

    1. Yes it works fine with up to 120Gb HD's, you just need to be careful which one you use. Due to the design of the connection for the HD inside the PVR box you have to make sure you use a HD that has all the pins exposed. Some HD's have the pins either partially covered or totally covered. Western Digital ones are tried and tested and work perfectly as are some other models.

    2. Yes it auto rolls - and a lot faster than the black box.

    3. Yes you can providing it is visiable in EPG. You can also set up a time manually just like a DVD/Video recorder - up to eight recordings in fact. It's also a lot faster to set up a recording compared to DVD/Video recorders.

Ok cool, thanks for your help D, think i will be picking one of these up quite soon then (with HDD built in)

Am i right in thinking that i would need to flash it out of the box to get all chans?

    Cheers!

excellent tuts you made for the PVR, I have decided to buy one with the 120 hdd inc, it should be droping on the doorstep in the morning, 1 thing after reading through this thread, are the CDFs from the blue red + max V compatible with the ex5000 I presume it would be? I see it auto sorts the channels for you but I prefere my channels sorted as they are now on my other EV's

    Many thanks.

    Thanks HiTeck

Yes the CDFs do work from the older box's, I also hate the Auto sorting, end up renaming FAV groups the way I want them and sorting manually, then use this for all other box's.
