I have tried the PVR with a few different HD's and setups and here are some of my results: 1) The reason some HD's don't fit is because of the black upper lip's above the pins at the rear. This is there as some sort of protection but for the brave hearted, can be removed with a Dremel tool and a steady hand (don't blame me if you cut through some pins, but it's a way of making an old unused HD fit). 2) Hard drives formatted with either FAT32 or NTFS will not work, the drive needs to be un-formatted (out of the box). Those with DOS skills should be able to un-format with FDISK. 3) Because of (2) above Windows will not now be able to read saved files on the HD. Hopefully something will be done about this. D
with these new boxs will it be able to cope if telepest change the way with later codeing or frequence
Don't know if this is the case with others', but any recordings I play back always take a minute or so for the audio to sync with the video, or vice versa. The video stutters every second or so until they sync.
I received my Eurovox EX5000 pvr yesterday and installed the firmware like instructed. The channels are fine but after fitting the HDD 120gb, i clicked on Record to test it, i recorded 13 minutes of tv, then stopped it. I took the harddrive back out and then connected it to my pc to see what format it recorded in ( For example AVI, WMA ),so i could add a film to the HDD which i have downloaded onto my pc, so i could watch it on the Tv through the box. When connected up to the pc it said unknown format and therefore needs formatting. Please can you tell me which format should the HDD be in ( FAT, FAT32, or NTFS)????. And for my second question, what file format do i need for films and programmes, AVI or WMA or other? Hope someone can help me! Thanks Deb
Thats the problem at the moment it doesnt format it to a windows type partition, again another thing that needs to be looked at.
Hi Guy's, Although I have been reading the threads for some months now (all very interesting), I wonder if someone could tell me does it make any difference whether we use a P-ATA or a SATA interface HD for the Eurovox PVR? I noticed in the user manual that Eurovox say "P-ATA". I would be very grateful for any advice. Regards, Oliver.
Never got any HDD instructions with my manual, although never tend to read them either way Its neither you need an IDE drive recommended models and sizes I have already given in this thread.
Parallel ATA only. SATA isn't supported. Thanks to you both, ScOuser & Scriber, The HDD instructions are on page 15 under A.2 Specifications. Not many people are using PATA now as there are far more benefits with SATA: http://kb.nitix.com/images/9/90/SATAvsPATA.pdf & http://www.directron.com/patasata.html Interesting reading! Regards, Oliver.
Hi Guys, Just got my max pvr, I also got a 80 gb Seagte momentus 5400 hdd, When I slide the drive in, it just comes up Hdd full or not installed, is there anything I need to do with the Hdd before I install it. Thanks.
It should be fine. But, try powering off from the switch on the back of the b0x, and then with the HDD inserted... powering back on.
