So should i be using UFL ex5000 8-7-8 Or UFL ex5000 v1.1 ????????? I just thought the latter one was a zipped version of the same file. What has changed in the 1.1 then? How do i change to the 1.1, Just plug it in or what?
thanks for the reply, sorry for your your troubles! i gather from the previous posts that you flash the box to get the 1.1 on. I could be wrong and ive never used one but a variable attenuater (not sure of spelling and scouser can confirm)could be the solution to your signal problem.
Thanks for the advice Axxxo Heres a link below to a screen shot of the garbled pic. http://www.4shared.com/file/56004680/39fcd8c6/DSC00469.html Im not picking up all the channels i should so a little confused as to weather its too much or too little signal. Variable Aerial Attenuator 4 too much or a booster for too little i guess! Aparently v1.1 has the pause/play button fix. V1.2 poss out this or next wk will have the audio over the top fix!
i know exactly what the problem is, seemingly a few offaly fans were swinging from antennae to stop all us in the deise from seeing them getting whipped (for a change!)hehe i had a similar problem myself with an old starview original but it literally fixed itself, could be a total different problem with yours but then again it could be just a local feck up aswell!
it was very similar, long time ago now. some channels were coming in garbled but fixed itself after a few days.think it was a local service/signal problem at the time
good luck with it, should slap up your area or ring around to see if anyone else is having the same problem
Signal strength looks OK, looks like it could be a bad connection somewhere along your line. Have you tried connecting it as close to where the signal comes into the house as possible. Is there any splitters on the line? D
Well i went to maplins and bought a Variable Aerial Attenuator as Sc0user advised and that did not get the results i was after. As i turned it down i saw the % drop untill it said no signal been received! So has anyone got any other ideas as it would seem im up the creak without a paddle at the mo! Oh and £7.99 out of pocket I even had a ariel booster on and that did not get the results either. Hi Dolphin, no there are no splitters its a direct cable into the house from the footpath! :-0 Straight into the ex5000 HELP !
Apoligies I never recommended you to get a variable attenuator but it was directly towards the original poster http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/683339#4164971
Confused me too Axxxo but his problem seems to be at one address and not another. So as already stated it a cable problem or it could even be a provider rate problem.
Originally posted by sc0user: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Try a variable attenuator as it is either an internal or external cable imbalance. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway i did and this did not work so regardless i can cross this off the list. No blame intended, just need to find a resolution. Thank you for your input so far! I cant ring up cc and say my eurovoxex5000 is not working properly here, can u do something because i cant pick up channels i aint supp to av.
Hi scOuser, I tried to flash my box as you asked me to but it my computer doesn't seem to find the box as it keeps looking for com1, com2 or com3 but i tried to put my serial port on com3 but no use did everything but no gain. Plz guide me i kept the box switched on as well but again no gain. regards
hi sham im sure they will help u later this eve when they come back on. I think u have to use com1 not sure what cable leads u using and remember to use the same usb plug in the pc as this is the one your designating to com1. Presuming u have the usb to 232 null modem lead like myself. turn box on connect the 232 lead and then run the ufl prog press the big d load button and let it do its stuff. Hey presto u should then be ready to do ur scan when u connect to the tv. there is a link somewhere on here tells you how to config your port settings in device manager/ port settings/ advanced/change to com1.Restart PC Heres how to get to it 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected Hope this helps if not try later tonight when the tech boys are on!
Hi sham, You will find all you need to know at the link below my posting "Updating Eurovox" it seems that you are using a USB adaptor, hence it searching for COMM port - needs to be assigned to one, they tend to be a bit of a pain - anyway all info at the link.
sham are you even using the usb adaptor or just the null cable itself?if your using the usb adaptor in conjunction with the null cable make sure you installed the drivers cd that came with it, if your using just the null modem make sure it is a db9f to db9f rs232 null modem cable. when you click download on the ufl what message appears on the screen?
